President Obama's inauguration speech was good. I guess New Age is better than New World Order, LOL
The boos for President Bush at Barack Obama's inauguration were appropriate. Bring your boos and throw your shoes.
The Israel lobby has too much influence over U.S. foreign policy. There has never been a foreign country with more influence, and it's precisely the kind of foreign entanglement our founding fathers warned against. The conflicts of interest that result should be countenanced as treason.
Israel's military action in Gaza has not been appropriate. Do the math: latest casualty figures include over 1,000 Palestinians dead, 13 Israelis dead, 4 from friendly fire. Call it the Plaxico offensive.
Israel should not cut off electricity to Gaza in response to rocket attacks. Israel, it should be noted, was cutting off electricity to Gaza *before* this round of resistance. One should note conditions which existed before this took place. These Palestinians had nothing to lose.
The post-cease fire Israeli air strikes in Gaza were not justified. Starve them and silence them, then when they fight back, kill them en masse. Way to go, Israel.
Pastor Rick Warren was not a good choice to give the invocation at Barack Obama's inaugural. Warren is neither orthodox nor tolerant--the worst of both worlds. We don't need another Purpose-Driven Presidency.
Palestinian human rights deserves the most weight when discussing the Israeli-Palestinian situation. The right to have a country must precede a right to defend one. If return is truly a right, would only some people have it? Zion sips lattes while these bantustans starve. This is blatant hypocrisy.
The U.S. should not offer Israel a 'nuclear umbrella' against the threat of an attack by Iran. With Israel recruiting for IDF from America, I think our involvement is overblown already.
The U.S. government should allow privatization of federal roads and highways. Wassamatter? Afraid of a little competition?
The U.S. should sign a nuclear pact with the United Arab Emirates. Worried UAE will share nuke tech with Iran? We should worry more about the reverse. Ours is the largest trade deficit and UAE has the fastest growing GDP. Take the deal, and don't isolate Abu Dhabi.
Rush Limbaugh has had a negative impact on the Republican Party. Limbaugh created a following of dittoheads who by definition won't think for themselves. This affront to a Republic which depends upon vigilance was predictably disasterous.
Bill Clinton should replace Hillary in the U.S. Senate. Why not? It's not like there's not a precedent for former Democratic presidents who have been impeached later serving in the Senate. Can you say Andrew Johnson?
Israel should not be included in NATO. I thought that having fixed, established borders was a prerequisite. Israel's are not.
Israeli military action in Palestine is not justified. Study Maslow: the need for food and shelter supercedes the need for security. Therefore, to starve and dispossess another people because one's own people are afraid is unjust.
The Palestinian government should recognize Israel as a nation. Denial is self-defeating.
Race had a positive impact on Barack Obama's election victory. An inspiring and eye-opening moment for perceptions of color in America.
Israel should not build settlements in the West Bank. Another headbutt against a displaced and abused people.
Executive privilege should not apply to White House aides.
The U.S. should decrease the military defense budget.
Eric Holder is not a good choice for U.S. Attorney General. The Chiquita Banana defense lawyer? Are you kidding me?
Timothy Geithner is not a good choice for Barack Obama's Treasury Secretary. It's time we had Timmy over to the cabana to thank him for everything he's done for AIG. The bailout king! Yeah!
A naturalized citizen should not be allowed to run for President. The founding fathers drew an appropriate line on qualifications for the presidency.
The debts of highly indebted African countries should be forgiven. The sum effect of the loans seems to have exploitative.
The U.S. should comply with the Geneva Conventions in the interrogation of suspected terrorists. It's more important that we conform to the Bill of Rights with respect to interrogation, but it sets an acceptable precedent to also conform to the Geneva Conventions.
There was a conspiracy behind the assassination of JFK. E. Howard Hunt's account was published by Rolling Stone.
The Guantanamo detainees should be released. The Bill of Rights, and the fifth, sixth and eighth amendments to which this pertains, was intentionally written broadly, guaranteeing Due Process, Fair Trials, and Humane Treatment not just to all citizens, but to all persons. Not only should the prisone
The U.S. should not institute a national ID card system. This consolidation just eliminates yet another area in which states have been sovereign.
Denying or trivializing the Holocaust should not be criminalized. I don't get how criminalizing an historical debate benefits reason. Proof of the Holocaust should be rendered to all who seek or dispute, so that when future generations inquire, we can offer something more thoughtful than, 'Because we say it happened'.
Iraq should not ratify the 2008 Status of Forces Agreement (SOFA). It seems the Sadrist movement which is up and coming, although attracting a few bad apples, is led by a man who's in favor of Shiite/Sunni unity, restraint of force, and Iraqi sovereignty. The Sadrists could negotiate a better deal for Iraqis than the one
Executive privilege should not extend beyond a president's tenure in office. Accountability is needed, and the sooner, the better.
The U.S. should not extend military soldiers' tours of duty.
The President should not order domestic warrantless wiretaps to combat terrorism.
The U.S. should not expand coal-to-liquid fuel production.
People residing illegally in the United States should be offered a path to citizenship. They should serve in the military to obtain amnesty.
The government that governs least governs best. I agree with this statement, but I believe it would take a forceful effort to remedy the terribly foolish mistakes of the past and restore liberty and level the playing field.
President Bush should be censured. Certainly.
KBR should be held responsible for the electrocution deaths of American soldiers. According to CNN, Army documents showed that KBR, Inc. (formerly Kellogg Brown & Root) inspected and found serious electrical problems with shower stalls they installed a full 11 months before Staff Sergeant Ryan Maseth's death. http://www.cnn.com/2008/US
The U.S. should recognize Hamas as the elected Palestinian government. No need to live in denial. Better that we would have recognized Ho Chi Minh as the democratically elected leader of Vietnam than wasted all those lives subverting the will of the people.
The removal of checks and balances is inherently dangerous to our form of government. Natch. The Unitary Executive is not what the Founders had in mind.
