Teachers should not receive performance-based merit pay.

In theory, I have no problem. Given the vagaries of existing testing systems, however, I'm quite skeptical that they actually reward creative and effective teaching.

Awarding the 2008 Summer Olympics to China was not a mistake.

I wouldn't have done it. But this isn't a referendum on how democratic the host country is, it's about the sports. And it's hard to argue with China as a sports power.

Georgia should not become a member of NATO.

There should be affiliations and special arrangements, but I'm not sure making them full-fledged members of NATO doesn't tie our hands more than we should want.
