Global warming is a problem primarily caused by humans; higher average temperatures are partly or entirely the result of human actions.

This isn't even an "opinion" issue; it's verified fact. The "dissent" peddlers are funded almost entirely by the oil industry and are in the extreme minority in the scientific community.

Polar bears should be listed under the Endangered Species Act.

The main reason people provide opposition to this idea is because of the economic impact. It's NOT a scientific opposition, as polar bears are, indeed, endangered.

The federal government should release oil from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve.

In a measured fashion, as part of a bill that authorizes massive amounts of money to be invested in the electrical infrastructure.

The U.S. cannot meet all of its energy demands within 10 years through carbon-free sources.

But that doesn't mean that it shouldn't be tried.

Congress should not lift the ban on offshore oil drilling.

1) It's an election year gimmick that will have no real effect on gas prices. 2) Would you give an addict "just a little hit" to tide them over? Of course not. 3) It redirects the energy conversation...
