The name of the game is Individualism vs. Collectivism. I always choose the side of Individualism, it makes the world a very easy place to understand. The current form of Collectivism is all about control of others, Individualism is Freedom. Some Education I happen to agree with: Edward Griffin

shpshftr on Will the economic policies of the Obama Administration lead the U.S. towards socialism?

The economic policies of the Obama Administration will lead the U.S. towards socialism.

It seems many believe that to force another to contribute to them is what will make them happy. Those that believe it only limit themselves.

Most people I know want nothing more than to pay their own way. That's the whole point. Forced redistribution of wealth by government acting on beliefs that they can do a better job taking care of people and "protecting" them from themselves is the current order of the day. There "seems" to be "many" who believe you must “forcefully take from one to give to another,” is a powerful group apparently...yet no one seems to want to acknowledge being a part of it. But we see more and more laws passed constantly to give government more control over our lives and how we spend our money. However, most of the same people I know, though they ‘say’ they want less government and many you know I am sure, do absolutely believe that they would be happier if others changed in some form or another and that it is governments job to ensure it. Healthcare, smoking, abortion, gay marriage, gun control, education, energy, banking, global warming… Hell the list in endless! Government has taken on these issues because there is one set of people wanting others to give them what they want and force is an acceptable way to achieve it. Until the leadership discovers there are more good people than bad, this direction in governmental control will continue regardless of the cost to creativity and individualism.

Let me ask you a question. Do you know anyone personally who believes others have a responsibility to pay their way? How many people have you met who actually believe they are entitled to something they haven't earned? Before you give me some sort of answer remember that you probably have a circle of aquaintence that involves several hundred people and you can only cite people in that circle. I can't say that I personally know someone who believes that and I'm willing to bet niether do you. Where do you think this "many" you refer to are hiding?

What opinion do you want to express?
