Curly was my favorite member of "The Three Stooges."
"Mad Men" will win the 2009 Emmy Award for Outstanding Drama Series. The Emmys will be raving "Mad" about these "Men".
Elisabeth Moss ("Mad Men") will win the 2009 Emmy Award for Lead Actress in a Drama Series. I'm sensing a surprise win pulled off by a "Mad [Wo]Man". Regardless, this award will go to a cable show. Sorry Sally and Mariska!
Hugh Laurie ("House") will win the 2009 Emmy Award for Lead Actor in a Drama Series. He's funny and sadistic. Towards the end of last season, Dr. House was in the middle of his crazies. I just don't see Bryan Cranston repeating... if he does, he might be the Tony Shalhoub ("Monk") of the Drama category for the next 5 years.
"30 Rock" will win the 2009 Emmy Award for Outstanding Comedy Series. This is such a tough call. 7 nominees could easily spell upset win for "HIMYM", but "30 Rock" will likely snag it despite having an uneven season.
Toni Collette ("United States of Tara") will win the 2009 Emmy Award for Lead Actress in a Comedy Series. She's stellar in a very tricky role that requires her to fluidly transition from one character into another. It's a perfect balance of "dramedy" components.
Jim Parsons ("The Big Bang Theory") will win the 2009 Emmy Award for Lead Actor in a Comedy Series. "The Big Bang Theory" has been generating a lot of buzz in the off-season. Critics are in love with Jim Parsons' work on the show. I get the feeling Emmy voters will pay attention this year.
Ellen DeGeneres is not a good choice to replace Paula Abdul on "American Idol".
I enjoy traveling.
Dorothy Zbornak (Bea Arthur) is the funniest of "The Golden Girls". You know, it's a tough call because Betty White is brilliant as knucklehead Rose Nylund, and Rue McClanahan clearly thought she was playing "Blanche DuBois" rather than "Devereaux". However, Bea Arthur's deadpan reactions to the other women as Dorothy Zbornak is what makes most "Golden Girls" moments worthy of a laugh.
Kramer is the funniest main character on "Seinfeld".
The Academy Awards should not have expanded the Best Picture category to ten nominees. Personally, I think it's a bit much. Adding an extra one would've been great... but five?!?!
"Thriller" is Michael Jackson's best studio album. I was torn between this, "Bad" and "Dangerous". Each is home to one of my top three MJ songs. All had amazing singles. However, "Thriller" contains the title song as well as "Billie Jean," "Beat It," "Wanna Be Startin' Something," "Human Nature," and "P.Y.T.". SIX INSTANT CLASSICS, all of which are still insanely popular. Crazy.
Michael Jackson is the most influential pop music icon of all time. His personal life aside, Michael Jackson's career defined the word "performer" in every aspect. His songs, music videos and concerts influenced singers, dancers, choreographers, directors, producers and fashion icons around the world.
"Waiting for Godot" will win the 2009 Tony Award for Best Revival of a Play.
"Hair" will win the 2009 Tony Award for Best Revival of a Musical. I'm hearing incredible things about "Hair". "Guys and Dolls" got ripped to shreds by reviewers except for Jeffrey Lyons. "Pal Joey" was slightly painful to sit through at times. "West Side Story" has too much pressure on its shoulders.
"God of Carnage" will win the 2009 Tony Award for Best Play.
"Billy Elliot" will win the 2009 Tony Award for Best Musical. Everyone is raving about this show. I feel like all of the money it's generating essentially saved the 2008-2009 Broadway season.
I would watch NBC's 'I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!' if Rod Blagojevich were cast on the show. I'd likely tune in for at least one episode to see how the other "celebrities" interact with him.
A male contestant will win the 2009 season of "American Idol". Going with the odds.
There should not be a 'Three Stooges' feature film. While I didn't entirely hate 'The Little Rascals' movie or the first 'The Addams Family' film, neither were masterpieces... and the concept of 'Three Stooges' is pretty much the same in that respect.
'Kill Bill Vol. I' is the best Quentin Tarantino directed film. I enjoy a number of them, but I really thought Kill Bill (Vol. 1) was superb all-around.
Whose image is hurt more by the public fallout of the relationship between Chris Brown and Rihanna? Chris Brown I think Chris Brown will require an entire re-branding after this whole debacle. The reason being that his seemingly wholesome nature made him bankable to all ages. Rihanna's 2007 CD was titled "Good Girl Gone Bad". Subliminally plain and simple.
'Seinfeld' is a better show than 'Curb Your Enthusiasm'. I'm not a huge fan of Larry David himself... maybe if I ever meet him in person, I'd feel differently. However, his on-screen persona is highly irritating.
Joaquin Phoenix's rap career is a hoax. At first I questioned his sanity... but I'm thinking it's an 'act' for the documentary Casey Affleck (his brother-in-law) is filming.
Successful artists should not follow Radiohead's 'pay-what-you-want' model. I think industries get bastardized by too many revenue models. There needs to be some set standard, at the very least. It's what keeps an industry afloat. Besides, non-mainstream artists use this model to promote themselves at first. If they're only working towards a similar model, what do they have to strive for in terms of financial success and stability?
Viola Davis ("Doubt") will win the Oscar for best performance by an actress in a supporting role.
Stone Temple Pilots were the best grunge band of the 90's. This is a tough one for me... I really, really enjoy hearing a number of Nirvana and Pearl Jam tracks... but for some reason, I get really pumped when an STP song comes on... so for now, I gotta go with them.
"Milk" (Dustin Lance Black) will win the Oscar for best original screenplay. Full disclosure: this is a solely predictive pick with no real analytical basis on my part.
Heath Ledger ("The Dark Knight") will win the Oscar for best performance by an actor in a supporting role.
Kate Winslet ("The Reader") will win the Oscar for best performance by an actress in a leading role. The two actress categories are so tough this year... but I think Winslet will snag her first Oscar after six nominations.
Sean Penn ("Milk") will win the Oscar for best performance by an actor in a leading role.
The picture of Miley Cyrus allegedly mocking people of Asian descent was not grounds for a lawsuit.
Antitrust regulators should not allow Ticketmaster and Live Nation to merge.
I'm Yours (Jason Mraz) should win the 2009 Grammy for Song of the Year. Keeping in mind this is a songwriting award, I'd like to see Mraz, Adele, or Bareilles take it.
'Law & Order: Special Victims Unit' is the best series in the franchise. For most of its existence, SVU managed to intertwine interesting main characters with captivating weekly stories. The mothership L&O waited forever before even starting to develop the series regulars. Criminal Intent is always a coin-toss.
"Slumdog Millionaire" will win the Oscar for best motion picture of the year.
"WALL-E" will win the Oscar for best animated feature film.
"Slumdog Millionaire" (Simon Beaufoy) will win the Oscar for best adapted screenplay. It's a very carefully and smoothly intertwined narrative. While watching the film, I couldn't help thinking how great a job the screenwriter did with piecing the story together. I rarely have that reaction.
Phil Collins has had a better career than Peter Gabriel. I think Peter Gabriel is great, too. However, based on the many hits and ventures of Phil Collins (Genesis, solo career, composer / lyricist of Disney movies & Broadway shows), I think he wins this debate.
