Saving existing life is more important than protecting potential life. Remember that old joke, What would you do if you were trapped in a barrel up to your neck in crap and someone threw a bucket of snot at your face? This question and it's choices leave me with the general feeling this joke is meant to foster. Both are eq
Patents should not be issued for living organisms. Actually this is a step needed to insure the privatization of animal and human cloning. It will happen, question is are we going to be prepared? Some very, very serious research, discussion and regulations must take place before any such eventuality ... i
Adult stem cells have the same medical potential as embryonic stem cells. All extreme passions aside, yes! Recent research and cases in Europe and Israel have shown adult stem cells do seem to have more potential that embryonic stem cells. Thank God! :-)
Human beings are not still evolving. No, we did not "evolve" in the first place. However, this is tough question to answer. Are humans subject to the same laws we see in nature? I believe we were created as a unique being in the image and likeness of God, creator of all things. I see no proo
A belief in natural selection does not require a belief in evolution. It does not require it, but it is an element in evolution.
The U.S. should invest less in its space program. Not at the expense of life on this earth. Until we achieve some balance and moderation here on our planet, space exploration (or exploitation) must wait.
The Earth is several billion years old. To date, with the best scientific methods available most scientists, across many disciplines, agree that the age of the earth is around 4.5 billion years. I have seen some studies that even suggest the earth is older. Even the Catholic Church acknowledges
The federal government should decide whether embryonic stem cells may be used for medical research. It is too big of an area for any one state or group to oversee. It has huge social, moral and scientific potential and ramifications, not unlike that of nuclear proliferation or war itself. This should not be taken lightly or left in the hands of those wh
The use of nuclear weapons can be justified. Oh yes it can! In the hands of the right [mad]man anything can and will be justified.
There are legitimate, scientific, and peer-reviewed "alternatives" to evolution. Look Americans are largely ignorant of the strong worldwide scientific consensus backing evolutionary theory. For most Americans there is "us" and everyone else. That is a shame really. There are some valid alternatives to evolution being researched that
There is intelligent life on other planets. "Is" probably or rather why not? Kinda ego-centric to think God is only looking out for us. We might be surprised to find what is in heaven and what is not. Still I wouldn't be surprised if we are the only ones and all this was made just for us.
NASA should focus on manned space flight. It takes a combination of things, but yes it should be our primary focus.
NASA should complete construction of the International Space Station. One of our greatest frontiers is space. If it weren't for all the turf wars, greed and avarice between nations, societies and cultures we would be out there right now exploring as much as we can.
Human cloning should not be allowed. No. With no further comment.
The US should not intervene with nuclear programs in other countries. No not as an individual country. This should be done with our present world governing body, the UN.
The U.S. should build more nuclear power plants. With what we have learned over the past half century it makes sense to use this as a viable alternative. It must be carefully regulated and controlled as to where they can be built, however.
Scientists should not pursue embryonic stem cell research. NO! the idea of taking an unborn embryo's chance at life is moralling and ethically wrong, imo. We now have access to adult cells which make for even better research and results.
The federal government should subsidize the creation of new stem cell lines. But only the basis of using adult stem cells, not embryonic.
