Schools should not punish students for not reciting the Pledge of Allegiance.

You shouldn't force someone to recite it. Not wanting to recite it is part of a person's individual freedom. I'd say it.

High school students should be required to pass an exit exam in order to earn a diploma.

Some teachers are afraid to fail students. This is a way to make sure that students aren't just skating through their classes.

The classroom is not an appropriate venue for teachers to express their political opinions.

They're not paid to express their political opinions in the classroom. I'm there to learn about the subject at hand...not their political views.

Teachers should receive performance-based merit pay.

They would have that support from family, etc., if they did a better job.
