Congress should delay the transition to digital TV. Do we NEED to do this now...really? Do we not have more pressing concerns?
360 deals will help record labels turn a profit.
The July 2008 issue of Italian Vogue will not prompt American publications to feature more black models.
The 'Harry Potter' books are not anti-Christian. It could be discussed all day long, and good arguments could be made on both sides, about whether the Harry Potter books COME ACROSS as being anti-Christian. It is clear that Rowling did not intend the books to be anti-Christian, however.
Tickets to Broadway shows are not fairly priced.
WALL-E will not receive a nomination for Best Picture at the 2009 Academy Awards.
Celebrities are obligated to behave as role models. The problem is that kids see celebrities as role models whether they want to be-or whether we want them to be-or not.
Heath Ledger should receive a posthumous Academy Award nomination for his role in "The Dark Knight".
Minimum weight restrictions should be placed on models. My stand is "yes" because I don't disagree with this in theory...but how do you really enforce this?
'The Golden Compass' promotes atheism. It at least promotes antipathy towards religion.
Talk shows should resume broadcasting before the WGA strike is settled. They never should have stopped.
'American Idol' has no impact on the music industry.
The 2008 Academy Awards ceremony should not be cancelled. Canceling the Oscars because of the writers' strike would have been extremely silly.
Record labels will become obsolete.
Celebrities who advocate on behalf of social issues have no effect on the overall cause. Most of the time, it just makes the celebrity look good.
The music industry should curtail the use of violent or offensive lyrics. It should be done voluntarily.
The Writers Guild of America strike was not worth it. The WGA is becoming increasingly irrelevant.
Theaters should not ban onstage smoking. If it is part of the play, it should be included. If people know about it in advance they can decide whether or not to attend.
Reality television has a negative effect on society. Reality TV has little artistic merit, and it is often (though certainly not always) in extremely poor taste.
Commercialization has had a negative impact on hip hop.
Hip hop is in artistic decline. I don't think there was ever an artistic assent here.
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame should include artists outside the rock genre. Depends on the artist and their music
Internet service providers should not implement a file-sharing surcharge. More big-brotherism...
It is acceptable for people to wear fur. Nothing is as warm as fur.
The RIAA should disclose how they track illegal downloads.
The workshop process has a negative effect on the development of new plays and musicals.
Theaters should allow parents to bring their babies into movies. Qualified: Depends on the circumstances.
Printed books will not become obsolete. There will likely always be room for a good book.
Awards are not a valid measure of an actor's talent. Some people have been in the business for years and had a wonderful career, but not once won a major award.
The WGA strike had no effect on the television industry. Minimal impact.
The government should withdraw funding for art it considers offensive. Everyone has the right to free speech and expression. You certainly have the right to express yourself in whatever way you like-but I don't have to like it in the least. If it is offensive to many, it should be funded by the artist, not the state.
The Writers Guild of America is not justified.
"Noise" should not be recognized as a music genre. Unfortunately, lots of useless noise today passes for music.
Jimmy Fallon is not a good replacement for Conan O'Brien on 'Late Night'. Craig Ferguson
It is not acceptable for celebrities to sell photos of their children to magazines. Cheap. Tawdry. Do they not make enough money?
Congress should not guarantee permanent funding to the Public Broadcasting Service. I think PBS is great, but it ought to be another competitive medium. If the people like PBS, they will support PBS.
Consumers should have the option to purchase cable TV channels individually. Consumers should have total choice over their cable viewing options.
It is not acceptable for directors to present altered versions of historical events. Remember that film is now how most Americans (unfortunately) get their historical education.
Animated films should not try to appeal to both adults and children. This depends entirely on the nature of the film.
Awards are not a valid measure of a film's worth.
