How does one happen without the other? When you're a paraplegic you can't really mix your own frozen concoction that helps you stop hanging on....
Watch "Mar Adentro". People that want to die with dignity may not be able, or may not want, to slash their wrists or hang from the chandelier where their relatives can be tramautized by finding them.

Sure, people have the right to end their own lives. But do they have the right to help someone else end their life?
