The newspaper industry should not receive a limited exemption from antitrust laws. It is not different than any other industry. If the laws are bad, repeal them for everyone, if they are good, apply them to everyone.
Craigslist should not remove its 'Erotic Services' listings. The "morality watchers" that try to use tangential issues to force their viewpoint on others should be thwarted.
It is appropriate for the President of the United States to make appearances on late night talk shows. It is not like the president is a king, even though some of our previous ones liked to think so...
CNBC is a credible financial news network. As compared to any other news network. As compared to reality, well...
Online news should be free. Not as a requirement mandated by a government though; the providers need to make this decision for themselves. I simply believe this model makes economic sense for companies, and those that want to charge for the news will soon find themselves in trouble.
The New York Post's chimpanzee cartoon is not racist. Those who look for a pretext to be offended, will be offended no matter what.
The government should not provide financial assistance to the print journalism industry. Let the dinosaurs die already.
The FCC should not strengthen indecency rules regarding broadcast television. Enough with determining what I can and what I cannot hear.
MSNBC is politically biased. Not that I watch them, but generally, journalism standards are so low nowadays that no network escapes strong bias (leftish in this particular case).
The Attorney General should not have the authority to bring civil lawsuits against alleged file-sharers. This is nothing less than corporations using our tax dollars for their private benefit. Which is wrong (recently I feel the need to clarify this point).
The Fairness Doctrine should not be reinstated. Fairness doctrine had its purpose when media bandwidth was limited. Now, with thousands of cable channels, with infinite number of web sites and blogs, with podcasts, satellite radios and whatnot, anyone can express any opinion, and be heard by those who
The media does not have a social responsibility to promote positive body images. I am tired of people blaming everything and everyone around for their own deficiencies. You have a problem with "media promoted body image"? Stop watching the TV 8 hours a day, you will not even know what they promote...
The U.S. should enact the Free Flow of Information Act. That could be a step towards repairing the abysmal state of the "free media".
The Internet should not be regulated by one governing body. There is absolutely no need for political "governing body." For the technical issues the IETF seems to be perfectly adequate.
Internet gambling should not be banned. US schizophrenic approach to gambling is just nuts.
Websites should allow anonymous comments. "On the Internet nobody knows you are a dog." It's an oldie (in Internet years), but I would rather keep it this way.
The American news media did not appropriately handle coverage leading up to the war in Iraq. Solid journalism is dead. The reporters nowadays find it so much easier to repeat party lines, press releases and paid "news"...
There should not be legal protection for celebrities who are frequent paparazzi targets. Since they reap the benefits of their popularity, they -- not the taxpayer -- should bear its costs. Moreover, the convenience of the few (the celebrities) is not worth the freedom restrictions for the many (everybody else).
