If a nuclear weapons program is discovered in Iran, I would not support a preemptive military strike.
Once burned twice shy. Preemption, in our government's opinion, means "we do whatever we feel like, otherwise terrorists will win".

Technological advancements tend to improve human life.
In *all* aspects of life, an average member of technologically advanced society is better off then a member of technologically backward society. These aspects (as reported by number of studies) include: health, lifespan, amount of work performed, time and resources dedicated to entertainment, even feelings of happiness (self-reported), love, and self-worth.
