Web sites with user-generated editorial content should not compensate contributors. Not as a matter of law; nor should the users be prohibited from receiving compensation. If a site owners want to pay, that's their business. If the users are willing to provide content for free (just as I am on this site), that is their business. What is it to anyone else?
Member opinions are more interesting to read than public figure opinions on whereIstand.com. I routinely skip the public figures' opinions.
Employers should not have the right to fire workers for content posted on social networking sites. But they will still try. That is why the anonymity protection is so important.
