Homosexuality is not a choice. As I was informed by @JZipp, there is scientific evidence showing that homosexuality is in cases a genetic adaptation to curb population growth. Either way in general you don't choose to be sexually attracted to something. If someone were attracted to a horse I don't think that he or she chose to feel that way.
Pride is the worst of the seven deadly sins. Arrogance creates a closed mind, and not trying to communicate with or understand others has the highest potential for widespread destruction. The result is shamelessness and a lack of humility.

The arrest of Henry Louis Gates, Jr. was not justified. Police tend to forget that they are public servants. The guy was in front of his own house and he had identification. Regardless of unruly or being rude or irritated - anyone would be irritated if he was in front of his own house and asked if he was breaking in... to his own house... seriously. The smalltown sheriff mentality seems a lot better. They know the community, they're there to help out, they're not on power rushes or ego trips.

Same-sex marriage is a civil rights issue. Married couples legally obtain various benefits that aren't conferred upon same-sex couples who can't get married. Marriage has a legal definition, therefore it exists with civil jurisdiction.
