I am willing to patronize local retailers if their prices are higher than those at large chains. I really like the idea of supporting small businesses. Of course, if they aren't stocking desirable items, then it isn't worth it.
Deflation represents a greater threat to U.S. economic recovery than inflation.
I prefer wine to beer and liquor. It varies between wine and hard liquor depending on my mood, but lately I've been all about the vino.
Cleanliness is the most important accommodation factor when traveling as a tourist. All factors are important, but I guess I'd have the most difficult time dealing with dirty accommodations.
If you insist on experiencing life as a "local" then you'd also be going to local markets and shops to buy your food and cook traditional meals, etc. Calling a spade a spade, you're not actually "being a local" if you stay at a hotel, B&B or hostel. That being said, I wouldn't go somewhere else solely to experience "everyday life". I generally go to also be a tourist.

It is appropriate to market VitaminWater as a healthy alternative to soft drinks.
Dunkin' Donuts brews a better-tasting coffee than Starbucks. Hands down, it's the Double-D for me. Not to mention it's about 1/2 the price of anything that tastes mildly decent at "the Bucks". However, if I was desperate, I'd drink whatever is available.
Less money being spent on a ridiculous "drug war"... and the legalization of actual industries.
At the time of this stand it sat around 8.5%... so it looks as if it's only a matter of time...
The MTA fare hikes are not justified. I hate the MTA.
Which low-cost United States airline do you most prefer to fly with? I love flying Virgin Atlantic when going overseas, and the domestic version is supposedly a similar experience. I'd choose them over the rest if they offered a flight to my chosen destination.
Microsoft retail stores will not effectively compete with Apple. Let's face it... Apple stores are the rage because people like to test out their products and buy accessories from the iPod mecca. They also provide direct technical support. Microsoft needs to focus on developing better products before it tries to sell m
Pepsi's new logo is worse. They're constantly changing their designs... it's the one thing about the brand I can't stand.
The government should regulate salaries of companies who have received bailout funds. Absolutely. Many companies are facing financial problems because of ridiculously high salaries for low output. If they want tax payers to foot the bill for their mistakes, they have to deal with the consequences of regulated salaries.
Management is most responsible for the U.S. auto industry's financial problems.
The U.S. federal government should provide financial support to its auto industry. Sorry, but we already set the dangerous precedent by offering a ridiculous amount of support to financial institutions. That was a major mistake, but at this point, it would be irresponsible if we didn't help out one of the biggest job providing industrie
Bush Administration policies have had a negative impact on the economy.
Market speculation is having the greatest impact on rising oil prices.
The financial crisis will not lead to another economic depression. Let's hope not... especially since the global economy still depends heavily on America (whether or not everyone else wants to believe that). A modern day "Great Depression" would create a worldwide ripple effect rather than just in the U.S.
The federal government should not pass the proposed $700 billion financial system bailout. We're just experiencing the early on-set effects of this crisis and already people are dialing the red phone. Passing an emergency bill without general oversight would be completely irrational. This is something that needs actual care not haste (and possi
Financial Institutions are most responsible for the current financial crisis. As Michael Bloomberg said on "Meet The Press", a major problem with these corporations is the socialization of losses and the privatization of profits. The executives lobby against regulation, then beg the government to bail them out when in financial tro
The U.S. is undergoing the worst financial crisis since the Great Depression. For those who currently believe otherwise, remember that we have yet to feel the full impact of the current financial crisis. Keep in mind the word "undergoing". The Titanic hit the iceberg hours before it completely sank.
The Treasury Department should block severance packages for Fannie and Freddie corporate executives. Didn't the government have to intervene because the corporate executives weren't "executing" well, adding heavily to the economic crisis in the United States? They're not being fired so much as the companies would've likely gone belly-up anyway. Severance
The Microsoft commercials featuring Jerry Seinfeld do not effectively compete with Apple's Mac campaign. Even if the Microsoft ads with Jerry Seinfeld get better, they won't do enough for the brand. Apple has a great "user-friendly" feel to everything it does. Even though I'm still predominantly a PC-system (sans the crappy "Vista") kinda guy, I appreciate A
This should be a state issue, not a federal issue. Cost of living varies from state-to-state and that's where the minimum wage debate stems. I'd rather the federal government focus on reform that's necessary across the board. However, there should be fede
Pepsi makes a better tasting cola than Coke. I know I'm likely in the minority, but Pepsi (regular and diet) are far and away better than Coke according to my taste buds.

It's somewhat of a double whammy. Bringing in so-called "skilled workers" rather than appropriately training American citizens to do the same job hurts the economy just like outsourcing, but what's even worse is that it adds more of a strain on the countr
