I am a type A personality. I'm sure you knew.
I do not practice Yoga. Nah, but I think I might try AcroYoga one day. I do other stuff for flexibility.
Depression is not a disease. Blanket questions are never true, but -generally- depression isn't a disease. In some cases people do have biological problems though, but at the same time love is also the result of chemical processes in the body and we don't call that a disease, nor do we make medication to remedy it.
I do not worry about growing older. When it's time to die, it's time to die. It's because things don't last forever that things are precious and have meaning. Just another part of life.
Animals do have souls.
There should be limits on the amount of damages awarded in medical malpractice suits.
Drinking in moderation is not a viable treatment for alcoholism. It seems logical, but in practice it generally isn't very effective. Of course there are always exceptions to everything, and for some people it absolutely works, but for the most part, if you're addicted, moderation doesn't work very well. You have to purge your body of the desire. With regards to the patch and cigarettes, it's different because there's a physical dependency on nicotine that you can wean off of. As for drinking, it's a psychological tendency. People don't drink because some chemical in the alcohol is creating a biological dependency on it, people drink because of psychological factors that drive them to become addicted.
I would consider non-pharmaceutical treatments if diagnosed with pneumonia. I generally prefer holistic treatment over synthetic.
Media coverage of the swine flu outbreak has not been overblown. It only appears overblown because it was overblown therefore it wasn't overblown. Meaning, if this were back in the early 1900's and we didn't have the Internet and TV like we have it today, the spread of information would be a lot more limited. It's because we've raised so many red flags that we're able to contain it.
People should not use the Internet for self-diagnosis. Absolutely freaking not. Every time I look up anything online, all I see is "GO TO THE ER YOU'RE GOING TO DIE YOU HAVE A FATAL ILLNESS". If you could just friggin' diagnose yourself why the hell do doctors get paid six digits plus and have to go through 10 years of rigorous schooling at universities? Come on lol.
Vitamin C can help prevent the common cold.
HIV/AIDS research will yield an effective vaccine.
Low-carbohydrate diets have a negative effect on health. You need carbs; carbs are energy. It's just a matter of healthy carbs vs. bad carbs. Asians tends to be skinny and rice is a major part of the diet.
Vitamin supplements should play a minor role in a healthy lifestyle. Vitamins are synthetically extracted, and don't have the same harmony of atomic makeup as those existing naturally.
Scientists will not find a vaccine for the common cold. I imagine it's common because it keeps changing... so no...
Brushing your tongue does help prevent bad breath.
Organic food is safer than conventionally grown food.
Healthcare reform is directly related to improving the U.S. economy.
Genetic mapping will be effective in predicting diseases. I thought it already was.
The outbreak of the influenza virus (Swine flu) in Mexico will become an international pandemic. At the rate that it's going, yes. I am just placing my hopes on science to soften the blow. The multi-species hybrid aspect sounds quite intimidating.
The U.S. is prepared for a flu pandemic. After the last crisis I think that we've learned a lot and I have full confidence that we can handle flu pandemics. EDIT - I looked at other people's stands and apparently we're all going to die now.
Habitual consumption of alcohol is worse on one's personal health than habitual consumption of marijuana. I think an option for cigarettes is missing. Either way the liver damage is worse than marijuana.
Purchasing pharmaceuticals online is not safe.
There is a link between sexual behavior and depression.
Meditation does improve your health. Of course it does. Most of us spend our days plugging away for eight hours at work and then watch TV for hours and go to sleep, a constant stream of unhealthiness every day. We need time to release tension, clear our minds, our bodies, our souls, and re-align ourselves.
Pope Benedict's comments about condoms increasing the problem of AIDS in Africa were not accurate.
Organic food provides more nutritional value than conventionally grown food.
All-natural hygienic products are effective.
The government should require labeling of genetically modified food.
Health insurance should not cover laser eye surgery.
Children diagnosed with depression should not be treated with medication. If a child is suffering because of emotional or psychological abuse at home or in school, and they take drugs to be happy, it isn't solving the real root of the problem. Admittedly there are of course some situations where it is necessary to have medicati
Alli (orlistat) is not an effective weight loss pill.
Exposure to nature can accelerate a patient's healing and recovery process. I luff my planty. I have to remember to open the blinds every morning before I go to work even though it's dark so that it has some sunlight to soak up. The neat thing is that it actually reshapes itself to maximize the sunlight on its surface area. And p
Video games do improve the cognitive brain function in adults over 50. It's not video games as something special though. We generally stop using our brains as much to do mindless 9-5 jobs, so obviously our cognitive ability would atrophy or deteriorate. Playing games just stimulates it, that's all.
Drinking milk has a negative effect on an adult's health.
Nutrition labels do not contain sufficient information.
There are potential benefits to drinking red wine.
Low-carb diets are not an effective method of losing weight. Eastern diets contain high amounts of rice, and Asian diets eat rice at nearly every meal. The reason is that carbohydrates are a necessary and healthy part of your diet. Eating unhealthy carb foods doesn't mean that carbs themselves are unhealthy.
"Third-hand smoke" is a viable concern. Scientific research says yes. Even if hypothetically it could be pushing it, no reason to add more to the already existing fire.
Medical providers should not have the right to refuse medical care they find morally objectionable.
