Exclusive sales agreements between service providers and handset makers are anti-competitive.
I would prefer a laptop with a touchscreen interface. As long as operating system interfaces are redesigned to be intuitive to a touch-interface as opposed to being a mouse-based interface. Things should "grabbable" and "tappable". The level of technology we really need to get to, however, is table PCs.
'Bing' is a good name for a search engine. Certainly better than "Yahoo!". It's also kinda Web 2.0-y in the semi-hip short buzzwordy sense.
Firefox is the best web browser. It's a resource leech, it lags if you have too many tabs, it lags if you have too many tabs and later closed them, it lags if you leave it on too long, it has memory leaks, it crashes randomly, it's slow sometimes, and it irritates me more often than not. Plus, the JavaScript handling engine is nowhere near as efficient as WebKit (Safari's and Chrome's engine) At the same time, it's fast enough, it doesn't feel like a clunky broken thing like IE, and the extensions created for it are priceless. Built-in keyword search is great, mouse gestures are wonderful, Firebug and YSlow are gems, as well as Web Developer, the RSS feeds work exactly the way I want them to, and I can't really use any other browser.
I would not switch cell phone carriers for wireless phone charging. I uh.. wasn't aware that not having to plug something into a wall before you go to bed was such a uh, compelling reason to switch carriers. People must have reached a new epitome of laziness.
The ease of use was the deciding factor in my most recent purchase of a portable media player. I dunno, that weird wheel thing makes it really easy to navigate the thing. I don't feel the cumbersome feeling of drilling through menus and the interface feels clean and smooth but not static and barren like Google. Oddly the DRM doesn't bother me. I like my iPod. I upgraded after my old one slipped under my chair *coughs* because the iPod rocked, but I had initially bought it because of brand.
Microblogging will not replace traditional blogging. I feel the same as @JasoNunes on this one.
"Bing" will not increase Microsoft's search engine market share. Still too early in the game. I think it'll take around 2-3 rounds of technology and tweaking before MS can be a Google competitor.
I would not read books on a portable electronic device. Willingly, no. I hate reading in web browsers and all electronic mediums. Eventually I'll be forced to, I'm sure... and it IS better for the environment, so, eh.
Google is the best search engine. The quality has degraded over time for me but it's still the best, sadly.
Wikipedia is more reliable than a traditional encyclopedia. Has more eyes monitoring it and will be more up to date.
Super Nintendo was a better 16-bit video game console than Sega Genesis. Hands down, best console gaming platform of all time. Ahh... Kirby Superstar, Megaman X, Street Fighter II, Super Mario World, SMW 2 Yoshi's Island, Super Mario RPG Legend of the Seven Golden Stars, Final Fantasy IV through VI, Star Ocean, Tales of Phantasia, Chrono Trigger, Bahamut Lagoon, Der Langrisser, the Legend of Zelda : A Link to the Past, Super Metroid.. I can keep going on and on... the Super Famicom will always hold a special place in my heart. PS @JZipp is a hater. CORRECTION: Both @JZipp and @gethro are haters.
Member opinions are more interesting to read than public figure opinions on whereIstand.com. I never read PF opinions.
Frequent use of portable media players does present a serious risk of hearing loss. It does considering how loud people blast their music.
Mark Zuckerberg should be replaced as CEO of Facebook. He's not business minded and too idealistic. Having a great idea can only take you so far; at some point you have to start getting down to business.
Facebook should not use an open source model to develop their terms of service. I agree with @JasoNunes that there should be some user involvement such as a polling mechanism, but generally the Terms of Service exists for a legal and business purpose, to protect the interests of the shareholders and the company and the average user isn't a party to this information, nor to the direction and strategy of the business.
Facebook's upgrade to a real-time home page is not better than the previous design.
Websites should not maintain legal rights over a member's content after the account is deleted.
whereIstand is an effective forum for influencing people's opinions. I think it's great because it's open ended. You don't have to write something in the box if you don't want to, but for the people that do it's great insight into various perspectives on different issues. High-speed Internet access should be free. Yeah. Roads are free, parks are free, libraries are free; access to information should be free too. We're transgressing to a point in society where high speed internet is an indispensable commodity and vital to the progression of humanity.
Mozilla Firefox is the most secure Internet browser.
The iPod is better than the Zune.
Technological advancements tend to degrade human life.
Gmail is the best e-mail service provider. No competition. I'd use some other service if it just weren't that good.
The U.S. should convert to the metric system.
PlayStation 3 is the best seventh-generation video game console. As someone who's experienced both, I'd have to say that as a console, the PS3 is superior. It's processing power, engine, and the fact that it plays Blu-ray, the standard for High Definition Multimedia, and is being enhanced by Sony through its PSN, has P
