Opinions
The use of birth control is not equivalent to abortion.
Plan B should not be available over-the-counter to women under the age of 18.
The U.S. government should not provide universal healthcare.
People do not have a right to affordable healthcare.
Organic milk is not safer than regular milk.
Scientists should try to slow the effects of aging.
The U.S. should not do more to fight HIV/AIDS in Africa.
The U.S. should not implement a single-payer health care system.
Medical providers should have the right to refuse medical care they find morally objectionable.
"Third-hand smoke" is not a viable concern.
Hospital nurses should not be allowed strike.
Obesity is not socially contagious.
Drinking in moderation is not a viable treatment for alcoholism.
Health care reform legislation will not be passed in 2009.
The benefits of skin tanning (via UV light) do outweigh the risks. Moderation in all things is key... you need exposure to UV rays, those in northern climes (like myself) benefit from the tanning both. Although, being outside during the summer months is far better!
Physician-assisted suicide should not be legal. Absoloutely not! In Oregon where it is legal, the Oregon Health plan offers PAS in its coverage, but limits coverage for other types of care... Hmmm, one reason I don't want the government involved in making health care decisions for me or anyone else.
Children with ADHD should not be treated with medications. This is such a hot button with me - "ADHD" is so over diagnosed, with a 500 percent increase in psycotropic drugs being prescribed since 1991. Drugging a child into submisison is not the answer...
Silicon-gel breast implants should be allowed on the market. The fear over silicon breast implants is over rated. Studies have shown that their use is safe. Let the market work.
The government should not subsidize prescription drugs for seniors who cannot afford them. There are programs in the private sector that do a better job of ensuring that those who need drugs get them... more governmental spending will not solve the problem.
The government should not subsidize prescription drugs for people who cannot afford them. Private organizations do this now... Why waste more tax dollars on ineffective programs?
The U.S. should not expand the State Children's Health Insurance Program (SCHIP). Why should our government be involved with issues that the indidual should be responsible for? If a family is not capable of handling insurance, many non-profits offer assistance. The government as a whole is inefficient at providing at the local level.
