President Obama should not release new photos depicting U.S. detainee abuse.

It will only worsen the situation and make the US look horrible. "It is better to keep your mouth shut and let people think you are an idiot, then to open your mouth and prove them right."

But are we really confronting it even if the pictures are released? ...Especially if there are very little or no actions being taken against those that committed the acts. This will only further publicize what was done and create more hatred towards the US by showing terrible pictures along with the people that got away with doing those things.

I don't think it makes the US look horrible. I think that it shows accountability - that we are not turning a blind eye to abuse, that we are confronting it head-on, and that it won't happen again. In that sense we look better, and more responsible.

That doesn't go to say that I think he should release the photos, I'm just challenging one of your justifications.
