President Obama's statement about Henry Louis Gates, Jr.'s arrest was appropriate.

The attack on Gates was a racist and police-driven (how often those two are related!) attack. It was ridiculous, and I completely support Obama for speaking out against it.

@Montalvo No. It's all over the news.

@Montalvo Turns out the 911 caller did not know the race of either Gates or his companion. When pressed she said that one of them might be Hispanic. She also said that she wasn't sure whether they were breaking in or trying to get inside their own house. The police chief heard this, and relayed to his officers that they were two black men, showing both the racism and the corruption of the Cambridge police.

But the police arrested Gates, and the woman knew that the house was that of Gates. Obama was right; the police acted like police do here in the Land of Freedom And Democracy: they acted like corrupt racist megalomaniacs. Don't weed out the facts that are inconvenient while citing other facts.

@Montalvo Well, then, why did they attack Gates' house? Because he was a Harvard professor?

@Montalvo Yeah, changed my display name. What happened to Gates was racism. Whites saw him trying to get into his home, tied him to another burglar merely because he was Black, and asked him for identification in his own home. This shows the true face of American police, and its racism.

Based on Obama's reversal, it's apparent that he doesn't agree with you on this. Think about it...first he says that all the facts aren't in and then follows that up by condemning the police officer for "acting stupidly". He, at least, had the good sense to recognize how ludicrous his comment was. Apparently, you did not.
