Congress should change the eligibility guidelines for Medicaid. Keep your legs closed if you can't support your damn kids. I'm sick of bullshit programs that are pissing away tax dollars.
The benefits of skin tanning (via UV light) do not outweigh the risks.
There is not a link between alcohol consumption and the development of cancer. There are studies showing that it reduces the risk of cancer. Not making you more susceptible or flat out giving you cancer.
HIV tests should not be mandatory. At birth maybe. Forcing the entire population to go get an unnecessary blood test when only a select type of people need it is ludicrous.
Insurance premiums should be tax-deductible. I think it would save money for everyone in the long run. More people would be willing to get insurance, and get preventative checkups instead of waiting for a medical emergency and flaking on the bill so taxpayers get to pick up the tab.
Antibacterial soaps are not more effective than regular soaps. What a great idea. Lets help disease become resistant to yet ANOTHER antibiotic. With no proof of it being extraordinarily beneficial, its not worth the risk.
Dietary supplements should require FDA approval. Its better to know you aren't ingesting rat feces from China isn't it?
Obesity is not socially contagious. Just because someone you know or meet is obese doesn't mean you're going to go out and inhale 4 Big Macs to join them.
Sexual orientation is immutable. Generally speaking yes.
Governments should not ban trans fats in commercially-prepared foods. Whatever happened to consumers being responsibly for what they shove in their cake hole. The government shouldn't have to babysit consumers that are too ignorant to know that trans fat is bad.
Contraceptives should be covered by health insurance plans. It makes sense. It sounds horrible, but even from a fiscal perspective it does. Would they rather pay for a cheap contraceptive, or an expensive abortion. (Yes some companies do pay for abortions).
The vaccine for human papillomavirus should not be mandatory. We haven't had a chance to see what the long-term effects of the vaccine will be. Until we get those results, we shouldn't force them to get a vaccine, just strongly encourage it.
The FDA should label food products from animal clones. Consumer has a right to know what they're purchasing....not that it matters...its the same damn cow. Its not like they modified its genes to be poisonous.
The FDA should not regulate tobacco products. Do we really need the FDA monitoring products that are already widely known to cause fatal ailments for possible contaminants? No. Worst case - they die of the inevitable sooner.
Life begins at conception. Technically at conception the cells are living, ie life. Anyone that tries to claim third trimester/birth is delusional.
The FDA's drug approval process is effective. There is a tremendous amount of research involved, then the clinical trials, and multiple review processes. I feel it is more than adequate.
The government should require labeling of genetically modified food. Consumers have a right to know what they're buying, but I think it would be fun to mix the labels and prove that people won't know the difference between the two.
Nutrition labels contain sufficient information. If you don't know that box of ho-ho's is bad for you, you're a dumbass. You don't need a label telling you the chemical makeup of every ingredient to know it can increase your chance of developing health problems.
Frequent marijuana use adversely affects sperm. They swim in circles...not really, but it is definitely detrimental to the little guys.
Drinking milk has a positive effect on an adult's health. The "negative" effects are if you're lactose intolerant. God I'm getting sick of vegans.
There are no persuasive reasons why people should not eat meat. Ever wonder why vegans look like emaciated skeletons? Yeah..they aren't getting enough nutrients. Mother nature has failed them. Eat meat.
The government should subsidize prescription drugs for seniors who cannot afford them. Right now as I write this, people are having to choose between their Rx or food/gas/bills. This is unacceptable and something has to be done.
A person should have a basic right to death. but only if their medical condition is deteriorating with no chance of recovery. IE. Only being supported by machines, cancer that will decimate their body, or in so much pain that narcotics no longer help.
The right to death should be limited to those with terminal illness, chronic pain, or other specific circumstances. Yes to an extent. If their prognosis yields no chance at a cure, have 7 8 tubes going into them, or need to be in a drug-induced coma in order to cope with the pain, then yes they have a right to call it quits.
The government should not negotiate drug prices with pharmaceutical companies. Something has to be done about the cost of prescription drugs, but I'm not sure this is it.
HIV/AIDS research will yield an effective vaccine. We can already control the disease with a nice cocktail of anti-viral therapies. A vaccine will be within the next decade.
Retail stores should not be allowed to operate medical clinics. Hell no. Going to Walmart for your flu shot might be okay, but not for any form of advanced care.
Smoking should be prohibited in all indoor public places. With the exception of bars.
An avian flu pandemic is not imminent. Not gonna happen in the US.
The U.S. is not prepared for a flu pandemic. but we aren't in any danger of a flu pandemic any time soon. Its the media blowing it out of proportion, just like sars, west nile, avian flu, etc.
Employer health care plans should offer equivalent benefits for both mental health and physical conditions. Mental health is just as important as physical health.
There are potential benefits to drinking red wine. It goes back and forth, but I think small amounts can be beneficial.
There aren't persuasive health reasons not to eat food products from animal clones. We already eat cloned veggies, so get over it already.
There should not be a "fat tax" on foods deemed unhealthy. No way, this'll stir up the hornets nest.
Employers should be required to offer health insurance to full-time employees. Its ridiculous that they don't. Its in their best interest to keep their employees healthy and working.
Adults should not be required by law to purchase health insurance. Adults no, but they should be required to have coverage for their children.
Low-carbohydrate diets have a negative effect on health. You know, theres this great thing...its called a treadmill. Maybe choking down a salad sometime instead of a quadruple whopper.
The identity of sperm donors should not remain anonymous. A small chance that vital medical history could only be found out via the donors records. Thats enough to vote against anonymity.
The FDA should prohibit gay and bisexual men from donating blood. Certain diseases aren't caught 100% of the time. Those groups statistically have a much higher chance of being carriers. It has nothing to do with passing on the "gay" gene. Its all about the life-threatening blood borne pathogens.
Women should abstain from drinking alcohol during pregnancy. There are a select few of studies showing that small amounts might not be harmful, but is it worth the risk of FAS?
