Government funding should not be available to religious organizations for the purpose of performing a social good.
The Pledge of Allegiance should include the phrase "under God," because it should remain the way it was written. Find something more important to spend time fighting to change. (I think this is the issue some douchebag tried to take to court years ago.)
Religious leaders should not speak out on political matters. Its their right to, but I don't think that they should. People are misreading this issue I think.
The law should require people to wear seat belts. People have no problem breaking the law, so I'm sure it won't do much. Maybe they should force people to see videos of the aftermath of unrestrained passengers.
Scientology is a religion. Albeit one of the more "out there" ones. Wikipedia - "Psychiatry and psychology are destructive and abusive practices." They don't want their followers to seek the help they desperately need.
Parents should provide contraceptives to their teenage children. They should at least have "The Talk" and then hand them out. At least they know theres a chance they'll use them, instead of hoping they go to a new mommy clinic to receive them.
Ownership of certain dog breeds should be restricted. Extremely hostile dogs have no place in civilized society. There should also be an IQ test for the owners.
Morality and religion should play a role in public policymaking only in a general sense of universal good or bad. Even that is stretching the separation of church and state.
A belief in evolution does not contradict a belief in Creation. If God created everything, isn't it possible that he -could- have allowed animals to evolve.
Acceptance of evolution does not deny a belief in God. I don't see why they can't believe that God allowed animals to evolve to be better suited to their living environments.
Homosexuals should be allowed to enter the clergy. They should be allowed, but ultimately its up to the leaders of that religion to make the choice.
The 'War on Drugs' has not been effective in curbing illegal drug use. Go to Vegas if you believe the "War on Drugs" has been effective.
Different genders are not treated equally in the workplace. It has gotten drastically better, but there is still an inequality among men and women in the workplace.
The Texas government should have removed the children from their families at the polygamist ranch. If child abuse was evident, you get the children out. I don't give a shit if your religion says its okay, its never acceptable to harm a child mentally or physically.
Local and state governments should not be able to use eminent domain to acquire and transfer properties that have public benefits for private uses. Eminent domain is asinine.
The use of contraceptives is not immoral.
Downloading copyrighted material over the Internet without the owner's consent should not be legal. It takes 30 seconds to ask permission. Or if its music, 5 seconds to click "Buy now!"
The legal minimum age for gambling should not be raised to 21. Three years really won't make a difference. If the person has gambling tendencies at 18, they'll probably have them at 21 too.
Salvia divinorum should not be criminalized. Waste of time to ban it.
Marriage should not be defined as a union between one man and one woman. It doesn't really matter since marriage by definition is a religious ceremony and has no place in government.
The people in the US have the right to freely choose and practice a religion or to have no religion at all. We have the right to choose what we believe in, but sometimes certain groups take it too far, and claim other religions "offend" them.
Consumption of alcohol is not immoral. The acts you might do after consuming copious amounts of alcohol might be deemed immoral, but the act of drinking it is not.
There are persuasive non-religious reasons to prohibit same-sex marriage. Children do better with heterosexual parents.
Homosexuality is not immoral. To the general populous, its not immoral. Only in the religious realm is it immoral.
A couple should live together before getting married. Its a test drive of sorts. Saves lots of legal fees later on.
The U.S. should not enact a constitutional amendment prohibiting the burning of the American flag. They should implement a harsh punishment. Including deportation. Its just not worth the time and effort to make an amendment.
Marijuana should not be legal. Theres nothing that can't be managed/cured with legal narcotics. You don't need hallucinogenic recreation drugs for anything.
Catholic priests should be permitted to marry. Might be a lot less altar boys getting violated.
Death by lethal injection is constitutional.
Same-sex marriage should be available for same-sex couples.
Adultery should not be criminalized. No law is being broken. It might be considered an immoral choice, but it cannot be criminalized.
Election day should not be a national holiday. While I'm all for getting a day off, I would see this as a failing attempt at getting more people to vote.
Voting is a right. Its a right, but there are definitely some shades of grey.
There are no persuasive reasons to prohibit same-sex couples from raising children. Apart from having to explain why you have two daddies, there are no justifiable reasons to frown upon it.
People who view child pornography should be prosecuted criminally. Anyone that violates the innocence of children needs to be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
Children should be allowed to play video games. There is no reason children can't play games rated for their maturity level. There has got to be an extreme change in the way ratings are enforced though.
Violence in movies does not contribute to violence in society. There has been no definitive proof that violence in movies/video games has any link to violence in society. They do need to enforce ratings though.
Minors should not be exempt from the death penalty. If they have the ability to kill another living being, they can sure as hell suffer the full consequences of their actions.
Gay public figures do not have a responsibility to disclose their sexual orientation. Who the hell cares. They're people just like you and I. You don't see straight men and women having to disclose that information.
Schools should not teach Intelligent Design as a scientific theory. but they also shouldn't teach evolution. Forget about how and why things are here, theres plenty more to learn besides those two things.
