Heath Ledger should receive a posthumous Academy Award nomination for his role in "The Dark Knight". For his performance he deserves it. If they're giving it to him just because of the circumstances, that isn't right - but he does deserve it for that exceptional job.
Awards are not a valid measure of an actor's talent. Awards are never a valid measure of anything. Usually they're given out after biased voting.
Michael Moore's portrayal of the American health care system is not accurate. He blows everything out of proportion. Worse then the general mass-media. The problems he brings up -do- exist, but not to the extent that he makes it out to be.
Printed books will not become obsolete. Actual books no, but periodicals will probably become obsolete.
The RIAA should disclose how they track illegal downloads. People have a right to know if the themselves are doing anything illegal while trying to trace uploaders.
Theaters should not allow parents to bring their babies into movies. More for the sake of the children's ears rather than patron's comfort.
Minimum weight restrictions should not be placed on models. Let the models be accountable for their own bodies.
Human cadavers should be displayed as art. There should be no problem displaying cadavers as art, as long as they aren't being mutilated or otherwise disrespected.
The Writers Guild of America strike was worth it. All it did was piss off fans of scripted TV. So a majority of the viewing populous was unaffected. They could watch the bachelor in all its uninterrupted goodness.
"Noise" should be recognized as a music genre. No reason it shouldn't. Just because they make a genre, doesn't mean you have to listen to it.
Celebrities who advocate on behalf of social issues have a positive effect on the overall cause. They bring the issues into the spotlight, but they don't always choose the best issues to support.
The music industry should not curtail the use of violent or offensive lyrics. Rap is a huge market, and since violence, cursing, and other illegal acts are the main subjects in rap, this could cause a problem.
Graffiti can be considered art. Some of it can be very appealing to the eye but that doesn't make up for the fact that its vandalism and against the law.
Reality television has a negative effect on society. Reality TV is rubbish. Its taken the place of shows that were actually interesting.
It is not acceptable for people to wear fur. No one looks good in fur.
Consumers should have the option to purchase cable TV channels individually. Forcing packages of hundreds of channels that no one watches is wrong. Charge X amount for each channel, and they'll still make more money than they deserve.
It is not acceptable for celebrities to sell photos of their children to magazines. Using your child for your own monetary gain is absurd. You're supposed to be a role model and a protector of your child.
The 'Harry Potter' books are not anti-Christian. When J.K. Rowling sat down to write Harry Potter, I'm damned sure she wasn't trying to sneak Satan into children's minds.
