Anything's possible against a very weak candidate...the answer would be "yes" against McGovern in 1972, or Mondale in 1984.

Because we are a religious country second to few except the third world countries, which of itself is a sad commentary.

Not yet, anyway. People still vote heavily on a shared sense of faith or connection to a higher power.
