High school students should be required to pass an exit exam in order to earn a diploma.

And they should do a lot better on that exam than simply qualifying for a diploma to have a shot at getting into a university.

When someone goes on to work or further education, they should be expected to know certain things. A diploma signifies a certain level of learning has been accomplished.

We throw midterms, exams, PSATs, SATs, Proficiency exams, graduation tests, and TNs at them already.
