Public schools should be required to offer home economics. If we can assume that Parents are not qualified to teach their children the 3-R's and sex education, then why would we assume they would teach their children the skills required to take care of themselves on a daily basis. And home economics should include finance, budgeting, grocery shopping and menu planning.
Higher education is a privilege. It's a privilege to be earned.
The U.S. military should be allowed to recruit in public high schools.
Private schools should not receive public funding. If it receives public funding then it's not private it's public.
College entry exams should play a major role in admissions decisions.
Public schools should not make contraceptives available to students. Sex education that teaches contraceptive options. But not handing out contraceptives.
The classroom is not an appropriate venue for teachers to express their political opinions. Their students are held captive and may not feel comfortable questioning or disagreeing. Same with religion.
Standardized tests are not an effective tool for measuring student learning. I have found teachers teaching for the test.
Sex education should begin during elementary school (before 6th grade). Age appropriate sex education should be talked about very early. Sex in a normal part of all species. But humans are the only ones that seem to have a hang up with it. Education is key to stave off sexual abuse and pregnancy. Personally I feel parents sho
Education should not have a higher priority in the federal budget than military spending. It should, but it can't because we (our government) have chosen to be the world police and insist on pissing countries and cultures off and now at least 1/2 the world hates us and wants to destroy us. So now that we are the world bullies we have to protec
I rate America's education system "Unsatisfactory."
Abstinence-only sex education should not be taught in schools.
The government should not offer cash incentives for better student performance. Hell NO! Their parents should give them a dollar for each "A" and that's it. The incentive is a better education, better job, better life. Scholarships, low interest student loans, grants are not already an incentive? If you don't want to make the most of
Arts programs are an essential part of education.
School districts should give parents a choice of schools.
The government should not issue vouchers for private school tuition. Not for private schools. Improve our public schools.
Prayer should not be permitted in public schools. To allow ALL religions equal time would be disrupted to the learning process. Public schools are not churches. Churches are for praying....Schools are for learning.
Teachers should receive performance-based merit pay.
The public school systems in America would not be improved if they were federalized.
Home school is the most effective method of education.
Race should not be a factor in the university admission process.
A school should not have the right to require that a student take Ritalin or similar drugs. That's a decision that needs to be made between a physician and parent. I'm sure the school might think that drugged children are easier to handle.
There should be a foreign language requirement in public schools. How about Mexican Spanish.
It is acceptable for courses on the Bible to be taught in public schools. Religion is a huge part of world history and world cultures. It and other religions should be taught. It may lead to a little more tolerance.
American schools should not offer bilingual classes for native Spanish-speakers. Teach them English. That is our language. If we do that for Spanich we will have to do that for every language.
Schools should not punish students for not reciting the Pledge of Allegiance. As sad as it is that some people living in this country do not respect it or the flag that represents it, we are not a communist country and they should be afforded the choice to recite the Pledge of Allegiance. Men and women have died to give them that r
