Call it the Greeny Plan

Mike and Mike opened up the phone lines again to take questions from the fans concerning Greeny’s quest to become commissioner of Major League Baseball in 2009. Here’s some of the highlights:

From Joe: Would you take away the rule that the winner of the All-Star game gets home field?
Greeny: That’s the Greeny Plan. That was my idea. For those who haven’t been with Mike and Mike long enough, the morning after, about five hours after, that All-Star game was called a tie, I came on the air, everyone is screaming, “How could they let it be a tie?” And I said, “You wouldn’t have cared if the American League had won. You wouldn’t have cared if the National League won. So what difference does it make that it ended in a tie?” I had no problem with it. I said, “If you want it to matter, why not give World Series home-field advantage to the league that wins the All-Star game.” And that’s exactly what they did. It was the Greeny Plan. That’s when I first realized that I should be commissioner of Major League Baseball.
