Political parodies do influence elections.
Oliver Stone's film 'W.' does not offer a fair depiction of George W. Bush. No more than the fictional movie JFK gave any kind of fair depiction of what happend in Dallas back in 1963. They are both based on Stone's agenda and what he wants the watcher to believe.
Reality television has a negative effect on society. Too many young people watch and THINK that is reality. Not good.
Printed books will not become obsolete.
Celebrities are not obligated to behave as role models.
It is not acceptable for celebrities to sell photos of their children to magazines.
Theaters should ban onstage smoking.
The 'Harry Potter' books are not anti-Christian. No. There are several mentions of witches and demons in the bible, and it's not anti-Christian.
Reenactments should be used in documentary films. As long as they are historically correct. But when the maker of the film wants to make "their version" of events, then it becomes a story and not a documentary.
It is acceptable for people to wear fur. To each their own. Too many people trying to tell the rest of us what we should or should not do.
'American Idol' has a positive impact on the music industry.
Exploitation films do not have artistic merit. Yeah, look at the Death Wish series and anything Steven Segal ever did...Sheesh!
Consumers should have the option to purchase cable TV channels individually. This whole idea of cable companies being able to hold us hostage to their "tier packages" is complete crap. My provider gives me five channels of home shopping, two C-SPANS, but no History International. What a rip off.
The identities of the Classification and Rating Administration board member should remain anonymous. Mostly because of the people who it bothers. If they knew who was doing the rating, they would threaten and harrass them.
Celebrities who advocate on behalf of social issues have a positive effect on the overall cause. But only when their advocacy is done in a positive way. Encouraging citizen to get involved or behind a cause gives the impression of support. Making derogatory or negative comments about something or someone turns people off to them and the cause that
Music piracy has a negative effect on the music industry.
O.J. Simpson's book 'If I Did It' should not be published. The very fact that he would write such a book makes me wonder just what kind of person he is. I've given him the benefit of the doubt these last several years, but now this. What an insult to the memory of his slain wife and her friend.
Graffiti can be considered art. Like any form of art, it should be understood that it has its proper place. If I were to take a chainsaw to one of your trees to create an image or totem pole, I would be a vandal. Likewise, people with cans of spray paint should be considerate of the p
Michael Moore should have taken 9/11 workers to Guantanamo Bay. The problem is, by taking them along it would have ruined the spin he was going to put on his propaganda film.
Art should not be defined.
Awards are not a valid measure of a film's worth. Never. The true merits of film, or any art form, is in the eye of the beholder.
Michael Moore's portrayal of the American health care system is not accurate. Nothing that Michael Moore portrays is accurate. He is just one of many people who the media allows to twist and subvert the truth for financial and political gain.
Tony Soprano did not get killed in the series finale. This "thing of ours" is not going away quietly. There will be more coming down the road. Besides, even with Sil out of the picture, there is still Little T to be brought into the business. Waste management has never been so exciting! Tony dead? Fuget
Congress should not guarantee permanent funding to the Public Broadcasting Service. I think it's quite telling when you look at who feels that PBS should have guaranteed permanent funding. Any time a government is in control of any facet of a broadcasting outlet, there needs to be close scrutney. There are programs on PBS that provide
It is acceptable for directors to present altered versions of historical events. As long as they are not presenting it as fact. The last few decades have seen movies come out of Hollywood that are written and filmed in a way that leads the watcher to believe that they are fact. When in reality they are the dramatizations of what the
Minimum weight restrictions should not be placed on models. Huh?
The government should not withdraw funding for art it considers offensive. Who is going to do the judging? Surely no one person or group should ever have the power to determine what is or is not art. Funding should stop all together if there is going to be a "picking and choosing" of what is or is not acceptable to our governm
Art depicting religious figures in an offensive manner should not be censored. I see art as the personal expression of the individual who is creating it. I have been offended by these expressions that have shown religious figures in variously offensive ways and felt compelled to voice my disgust. However, I don't feel that my disg
The concert stage is an appropriate venue to promote political views. And only yes, if the person or persons doing it are willing to take the good with the bad. As we saw with Natalie Maines, she was vilified by many in the country music industry and as a result, the Dixie Chick' numbers suffered. I commend her for having
