Sonia Sotomayor is a good choice to replace Justice Souter. Sotomayor, a sound choice

President Bush should have commuted the sentences of border patrol agents Ramos and Compean. Two agents who shot a suspect did not deserve a pardon, but they also didn't belong in prison for more than 10 years.

President Obama should not appoint a special prosecutor to investigate Bush Administration policies. But as enticing as many find the idea of putting Rumsfeld or Cheney in the dock, neither a show trial nor a truth commission would be the right way to expunge or atone for the abuses of this administration.
