John E. Sununu Corporations should not pay heavier taxes on windfall profits. Sununu voted against cloture on oil profits tax.

Sununu voted against cloture on oil profits tax.

Although it was technically just a vote to close debate, the issue was clearly framed, the national parties took strong opposing positions, and everyone understood that a yes vote, to proceed to consideration, was effectively a vote to approve the tax; and a vote against cloture (with a threatened filibuster) was effectively a vote against the tax.
