That leaves one guy, the most consistent of all, Albert Pujols, who dragged his Cardinals as far as he could. In a year with so many candidates providing reasons not to support them, the only knock on Pujols is St. Louis' pitching staff failed to keep his team in the race. Pujols is having a better overall season than Howard, including defense, and is hitting about 100 points higher with about 150 fewer strikeouts.
