Major League Baseball should use instant replay to review umpires' decisions. Absolute, 100 percent no-brainer.
The Dallas Cowboys should have released Terrell Owens. He obviously wasn't going to get them where they wanted to go.
The NFL should allow Michael Vick to play in the 2009 season. Again... he did the crime and did the time.
I do not like running as a form of exercise. I only run when chased.
Professional athletes are not overpaid. No one ever complains that movie stars and rock musicians are overpaid.
If I were the general manager of an NFL franchise I would sign Terrell Owens. If I had strong coaching and veteran leadership and thought I was a WR away from a Super Bowl run, I'd take a chance on TO. It all depends on the situation.
There should not be an NFL franchise in Los Angeles. Losing not one but two franchises in the same year should be enough to disqualify you forever. No joke- I'd put a team in Birmingham AL before Los Angeles.
Drew Brees should be the first quarterback chosen in 2009 fantasy football drafts. In that Dome, with those weapons, and with Sean Payton's schemes, it's a no-brainer.
Native American nicknames should be used in team names. Go Tribe!
Michael Vick should not be banned from the NFL. He did the crime and did the time. He should be free to utilize his talents to make a living.
The entire list of 104 players who tested positive for steroids in 2003 should not be made public.
Bullfighting should not be banned.
The NFL should not impose hair length restrictions on its players. Like Samson, Mike Baab, Clay Matthews and Bob Golic got their strength from their hair. So, no.
It is not appropriate to put Kobe Bryant on the same level as Michael Jordan. Jordan came to a Chicago team that had been nothing before he got there and carried it to a dynasty. Not only is Kobe not on Jordan's level, he isn't even the best player in his own franchies's history.
The scouting combine is an effective way to evaluate NFL prospects. Effective, yes. Exact science, no.
Football is America's national pastime. Put the TV ratings of a Sunday or Monday Night NFL game up against an MLB postseason game. 'Nuff said.
Hank Aaron should not be re-established as Major League Baseball's all-time home run king.
Terrell Owens will have no effect on the Buffalo Bills. No effect. Signing TO was a publicity stunt. Buffalo's problems go far deeper than the WR position.
The Chicago Bears benefited the most from the Jay Cutler trade. You can't exaggerate the benefit of having a franchise QB, and Jay Cutler is just that. I know Denver is doing well right now w/Kyle Orton, but you need outstanding QB play to win in the postseason.
The NBA should not change its playoff seeding format.
Adrian Peterson should be the first running back chosen in 2009 fantasy football drafts. I'm a little skeptical of AP in points-per-catch leagues b/c he isn't a part of Minnesota's passing game, but he's one of the very few workhorse backs left in the league.
Larry Fitzgerald should be the first wide receiver taken in 2009 fantasy football drafts. Well, I made him the first WR taken in my fantasy league, so I guess the answer is "yes."
Phil Jackson is not the greatest coach in NBA history. Red Auerbach is still the man.
Joe Mauer should win the 2009 American League MVP. Mauer carried his club down the stretch, and Minnesota wouldn't have made the postseason without him. Not sure you can say the same for any one of the Yankee candidates.
Alex Rodriquez's steroid use should not keep him out of the Hall of Fame. I think we need to accept that everyone- or most everyone- was doing it, and move on.
Joe Torre's memoir about his time with the New York Yankees is not appropriate.
Barry Bonds' home record should not have an asterisk.
The New York Yankees have a positive impact on Major League Baseball. They draw well on the road and generate revenue for the other teams.
USA Swimming should have suspended Michael Phelps.
Kurt Warner should be voted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. He was the top player at his position in multiple years and has taken two different teams to Super Bowls. Those are the two qualifications he needs for Canton.
Brett Favre should be the New York Jets' starting quarterback in 2009. He's a prima donna and an interception machine, but he's still better than Kellen Clemens.
There should be fewer postseason bowl games in college football.
Philadelphia Eagles will win the 2009 NFC Championship game. I picked the Phillies, now I'm going with the Iggles. It's Philly's year.
Pittsburgh Steelers will win the 2009 AFC Championship game. Go with the team with the veteran QB in a game like this.
Roger Clemens should be voted into the Hall of Fame. His pre-steroid career is good enough, much like Barry Bonds's.
Mark McGwire should not be voted into the Hall of Fame. Not a complete player even if you take away the steroid thing.
Sabermetrics is an effective way to evaluate baseball talent.
Tennessee Titans will win the 2009 AFC Divisional game against the Baltimore Ravens. Tough choice, but I'll go with the team with the veteran QB.
San Diego Chargers will win the 2009 AFC Divisional game against the Pittsburgh Steelers. In honor of Alfred Pupunu, I'm picking the Chargers to run their all-time playoff record in Pittsburgh to 3-0.
The Denver Broncos should have fired Mike Shanahan. Shanny's body of work the last ten years is far from impressive. It was time for a change in Denver.
