Memos about CIA torture techniques should have been released by the Obama Administration. I believe our country is stronger and safer as a result of ending torture and releasing these memos.
Federal judge Jay Bybee should be impeached for authoring memos that justified Bush Administration interrogation techniques. We’ve already seen that he’s willing to interpret the laws in ways that are counter to the fundamental values of our country. I think that is a proper response.
There are not persuasive non-religious reasons for prohibiting abortions. I will continue to oppose any attempts in Congress to limit, restrict or deny a women’s right to choose.

Roe v. Wade should not be overturned. This historic decision put reproductive choice back in the hands of women and gave them safe, medical options.

Congress should not fund a troop surge in Iraq. Cosponser of H.R. 4232- The End the War in Iraq Act
The United States' strategy in Iraq should be to withdraw military forces from Iraq immediately. Cosponser of H.J. Res. 73 - To redeploy U. S. Forces from Iraq
Based on the information available at the time of the invasion of Iraq, it was not justified. I opposed the war in Iraq before it began
The invasion of Iraq has not been successful. We have suffered thousands of American causalities and spent billions of dollars on an unnecessary war that has not secured Iraq.
The Partial-Birth Abortion Ban Act is not constitutional. The ruling sets a dangerous precedent by banning a critical medical procedure that physicians use to save a woman’s life.
There should be more measures restricting the right to own and carry a firearm. I call on my colleagues to pass tougher gun laws
The U.S. should not restrict prisoners' access to lawyers at Guantanamo Bay. "We are gathered to object"
Hillary Clinton should drop out of the presidential race. "There really are no options left, so now the decision is really the exit plan"
The U.S. should end the embargo against Cuba. The U.S. has an opportunity to play a positive role in Cuba by lifting the economic embargo
The U.S. embargo on Cuba has not been effective. SCHAKOWSKY STATEMENT ON CASTRO'S RESIGNATION
The Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) should not include immunity for telecom companies. Schakowksy among 29 in House opposing immunity
