Endorsements do influence the outcome of elections.
The U.S. should be a member state of the U.N. The world's most successful republic and influential nation not part of the world body? Silly to even consider.
The U.S. should not negotiate with the Taliban.
Racism has not played a role in opposition to Barack Obama. I am sure racism has played a role, but more than that I think is genuine opposition to Obama's obscene growth of government.
Presidential elections should be decided by the electoral college.
Based on the information available now, the invasion of Iraq was not justified. Obviously, with what we know NOW, of course not. But is this really a fair question?
Sonia Sotomayor is a good choice to replace Justice Souter. She's certainly qualified.
Sarah Palin should pursue political office again. If she wants to ... absolutely. Personally, I would not vote for her, but neither would I deny her the right to run.
Mark Sanford should resign as governor of South Carolina. I have to be consistent in my application of morality. I thought Clinton, McGreevey, Spitzer all should have resigned so ...
The Obama Administration should not issue a statement of support to the Iranian election uprising. Hard to think that would not be read internationally as the US meddling in the affairs of sovereign nation.
Puerto Rico should not become a U.S. state. Why would it want to be? It would seem to have an ideal situation right now as a US territory.
Bill O'Reilly should not bear responsibility for the murder of Dr. Tiller. Um, I can't believe this is even a consideration.
There are persuasive non-religious reasons for prohibiting abortions. Morality is not limited to the religious.
President Obama should not release new photos depicting U.S. detainee abuse. Are we not past this yet? We all acknowledge unsavory, even un-American things happened, but when does the leader of the nation stop apologizing for it?
It is not appropriate for a sign that reads, "Religion is but myth and superstition that hardens hearts and enslaves minds" to appear on government property alongside religious displays. The First Amendment guarantee of religious liberty, as interpreted by the courts, means government must neither advocate for or against religion. Clearly, this sign on a government building advocates non-faith over faith every bit as much as a Nativity scene on the same property would advocate for faith over non-faith.
The Republican Party should not try to rebrand itself. Instead of rebranding itself in a cheap attempt to succor votes, it should remain firm in its principles and rebuild from within.
Arlen Specter's switch to the Democratic Party will have a positive effect on the GOP. Ah, Specter the Defector. In my view, it's a good thing when RINO (Republicans In Name Only) Republicans leave the party.
Private sellers at gun shows should be required to do background checks. I don't see why not.
The Department of Justice should not prosecute CIA officials who carried out Bush Administration interrogation methods.
Memos about CIA torture techniques should not have been released by the Obama Administration. Absolutely not. This was a politically motivated attempt to distance Obama from the Bush administration that could have serious security implications. When will he stop apologizing for America?
Eliot Spitzer should not run for public office again. Whether he should is entirely up to him, but he brought shame and ridicule upon my state and violated the trust of the people of New York. And please don't tell me it was a private matter, when he's transporting prostitutes and cash across state lines in violation of several federal statutes. What if a political enemy or worse found out about this and was blackmailing the guy? Can we then trust him to put the best interests of NYS above his own political survival? The man is an eel. And I say this as someone who voted for him.
The U.S. should not end the embargo against Cuba. This embargo was designed to support democracy and freedom in Cuba. How does rewarding the Cuban government by opening up trade advance that?
Paying taxes is not patriotic. Not sure there is anything patriotic about a government-mandated obligation. Maybe I am wrong, but patriotism usually connotes a voluntary action.
President Ford should have pardoned President Nixon. If he had not, the country would have been consumed for several more years while Nixon stood trial. Ford would never have gotten a chance to govern. Remember the moment: rampant inflation, the fall of Saigon and the end of the Vietnam War, not to mention Watergate hangover. Ford needed to kick the Nixon mess to the curb if he was ever going to deal with those matters.
President Obama's video message to Iran will have no effect on U.S.-Iranian relations. I doubt this will change the mullahs' mind on anything.
The U.S. should not set a timetable to withdraw troops from Iraq. what advantage can be gained by letting terrorists know when we're leaving?
Citizens should not be required by law to vote. Mandating the vote will distort the results of every election as people feel compelled to cast a ballot not out of some allegiance to a candidate but out of an imposed sense of obligation.
Vacant U.S. Senate seats should not be filled by popular election. It would create electoral madness. How would you do it? And what rules would apply?
Senator Roland Burris should resign. Illinois politics. Corrupt and proud of it.
The government should never permit late term abortions.
President Obama will be a two-term president. he's staking his presidency and his place in history on this stimulus plan. Plus, the GOP bench, with the exception of Jindal, is just too thin to beat him.
Barack Obama has not led the debate on the economic stimulus package effectively.
Jimmy Carter was one of the worst presidents ever.
Tom Daschle was not a good choice to be Barack Obama's Secretary of Health and Human Services. Not if he didn't pay his taxes. People who don't pay their taxes, either through ignorance or arrogance, don't deserve any place in government.
Hugo Chavez's leadership has had a negative impact on Venezuela.
Michael Steele is a good choice to head the Republican National Committee.
Rush Limbaugh's comments about "wanting President Obama to fail" were appropriate. I agree he's alienating moderates in the GOP by the hour. Personally, I loathe the guy. But partisan politics is good for the republic. It ensures the minority voice is heard.
The United States' decision to drop atomic bombs on Japan in World War II was justified.
Kirsten Gillibrand is not a good choice to replace Hillary Clinton in the U.S. Senate.
A non-Christian will one day be elected President of the United States. Absolutely. By non-Christian, I assume we include secularists and non-believers as well?
