It seems incredible that, in this war undertaken for what we were told were the highest moral principles; morality itself has been undermined by our actions --- and our words. We were told Saddam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction. We were told he had developed biological and nuclear devices to hurt us and destroy us. None of it was true.
It’s hard to imagine a more fouled up war. We mourn the thousands of American kids who died or were maimed. We hear tales of torture and rationalizations for torture. And we wonder how we got to this place at this time. How much was stupidity? Did leaders who should have leveled with us lie to us?
