Get the right people in Washington. The discussion about how to fix the system, or how to design a new one, never even got started in the 2000-2006 Republican Congress. As long as insurance and pharmaceutical lobbyists control Republicans in Washington this will never happen. It's going to take a strong, motivated Democratic FDR Majority in Congress to make health care reform happen.
Establish a single payer system that provides universal coverage. I support the idea of a single-payer health care system in which the doctor-patient relationship remains personal and private, but costs and payments are centrally managed. We can reduce overhead and operational costs.
