The U.S. is safer from terrorism today than it was before 9/11.
Racism has played a role in opposition to Barack Obama. Not an enormous role, but it has played a role.
Democrats will win the most seats in the 2010 Congressional elections. I think Democrats will win the most seats, but the Republicans will chip away at their majority.
Governor Patrick should not make a temporary appointment to replace Ted Kennedy in the U.S. Senate. Considering that the Democrats changed this law in 2004 to prevent Mitt Romney from potentially appointing a replacement for John Kerry, I just don't see how it would be fair to overturn the law.
Israel should support the creation of a Palestinian state.
Changes to the Social Security system are necessary.
Sarah Palin should not pursue political office again. Let's just say that I am firmly in the "anti-Palin" camp. I will never fully understand why she is so popular.
Sarah Palin will not run for president in 2012. I don't see how she can. Her credibility is gone.
Sarah Palin had a negative impact on John McCain's candidacy.
The international community should not recognize the Iranian election results. No one for a second can legitimately believe that this election wasn't rigged.
Mark Sanford should resign as governor of South Carolina. I really think he's lost all credibility at this point. His press conference incredibly bizarre, but more importantly, I'm troubled by his decision to leave without letting his aides know what he was doing (as well as using economic summits as a way to visit his mistress).
Protests over the Iranian election will not lead to a revolution. I think things will calm down in the streets of Tehran over the next few days.
North Korea should not be on the U.S. government's "State Sponsors of Terrorism" list.
The Obama Administration should not issue a statement of support to the Iranian election uprising. That would kill any chance of thoughtful negotiations with Iran (not saying that that's what we should do right now), but it would be a very poor political decision to support the uprising.
Guantanamo Bay detainees should be moved to U.S. prisons.
I support President Obama's message to the Muslim world. It was undoubtedly a very carefully and well-thought out speech (using words like extremism instead of terrorism, etc.). I thought it struck the right balance on the Israel-Palestine issue, and I also liked the line taken towards Iran.
The government should permit late term abortions when a woman's life is at risk.
Sonia Sotomayor is a good choice to replace Justice Souter. I like what I've read about her. She has a pretty inspiring background story, and I'm very pleased with her college choice.
The U.S. should provide economic aid to Pakistan.
The Obama Administration will have a positive impact on the Middle East peace process. I definitely see Obama taking a more thoughtful approach to the Middle East than the previous administration.
President Obama should not release new photos depicting U.S. detainee abuse.
Gen. Eric Shinseki was a good choice for Secretary of Veterans' Affairs.
The U.S. military should not maintain its "Don't ask, don't tell" policy.
Assault weapons should be illegal.
Arlen Specter's switch to the Democratic Party will have a positive effect on his reelection campaign.
President Obama's first 100 days were satisfactory.
Private sellers at gun shows should be required to do background checks.
Denying or trivializing the Holocaust should not be criminalized.
The Department of Justice should not prosecute CIA officials who carried out Bush Administration interrogation methods.
The U.S. should end the travel ban to Cuba.
Memos about CIA torture techniques should have been released by the Obama Administration.
President Obama should have authorized the use of force against the Somali pirates. Definitely, I think he handled that situation very well.
The U.S. should end the embargo against Cuba. The embargo doesn't really seem to be serving much of a purpose.
President Obama's budget is satisfactory. I know some of the projections for our deficit are kind of scary, but I'm excited that he's really trying to attack our problems of health care, energy, climate control, etc.
Paying taxes is patriotic. See, I never had a problem with Biden's comment on the campaign trail about paying taxes being patriotic. It's our way of helping support entitlement programs, infrastructure spending, etc.
Congress should investigate the Bush Administration's interrogation policies. I definitely support putting together some type of commission to know the details of what the Bush Administration did with its interrogation. I think we should at least know the truth, though I don't support raising charges against members of the Bush Administration. I don't think it's something we should just put behind us completely.
Eliot Spitzer should not run for public office again. I didn't like Eliot Spitzer even before his involvement in the prostitution ring. I didn't agree with a lot of his subpoenas and criticism of various groups on Wall Street and beyond during his time as NY Attorney General. So, I hope he does not run for office again.
Israel will not take military action against Iran. I don't see Netanyahu taking this dramatic step of attacking Iran, and I am hopeful that the United States will be able to step in to help maintain order between Israel and Iran.
President Obama's national security policies are decreasing the threat of terrorist attacks in the U.S. I think closing Gitmo, denouncing torture, deploying more troops to Afghanistan, and the other steps taken by President Obama will not only help the United States' standing in global affairs but also will lessen the threat of terrorist attacks.
The U.S. should join the United Nations Human Rights Council.
