Education should not have a higher priority in the federal budget than military spending. They should be equally funded by the tax payers. Both are of upmost importance. However, the obligation of the government is to protect the US and it's people. It is not the responsibilty of the government to educate the people.
The federal government should not guarantee sufficient financial aid for every college student. I call that Socialism! Smaller governement please and quit teaching my kids lies and omissions about history.
There is political bias in academia. I have never seen so much political bias as I have in the last 10 years. We are drowning in it! My kids school books have so many omissions and mis-information in them I have to teach them the truth at home.
Universal preschool should not be free in America. If it is free then it is really paid by tax payers and I disagree with having a Universal Preschool. Enough is enough. Throughout America's history until very recently, education has been a local and parental repsonsibility. We need to restore federalism
Standardized tests are an effective tool for measuring student learning. It's all they got right now and I don't have a better idea. Measuring purposes yes, it is adequate at this time.
The public school systems in America would not be improved if they were federalized. Keep the government out of the school system. I have enough problems right now explaining the re-writing and omissions of the history books to my kids!
Higher education is a privilege. Definitely a privilege. On September 17, 1787 the United States Constitution was adopted, which created a distinguished progressive liberal democracy that guaranteed social and economic rights for all its citizenry. The American system seeks to ensure a f
I rate America's education system "Unsatisfactory." It has really gone downhill since I was a kid. I am 45 yrs old. I have two kids, 16 & 19 yrs old in the school system and I am very disappointed at the expectations the school system has now. I guess they had to lower them because Americans are becoming s
The No Child Left Behind Act should not be reauthorized. All children need to go through school with a higher expectation of them. This no child left behind thing means we will pass ya no matter how dumb ya are? Forget it. Look at the population now! We are the dumbest nation!
Schools should not punish students for not reciting the Pledge of Allegiance. It's a choice. But not respecting the school is also not good. My daughter stood in the corner in school for an entire year because she claimed it was her constitutional right to not recite the pledge of allegiance. It was considered disruptive to the cla
It is acceptable for courses on the Bible to be taught in public schools. It's acceptable to me. Great History Course that would be. I love the History Channel when the bible is the subject matter. Great stories there. Howver, I am sure it is not acceptable to some others. That's just the way America is though!
Arts programs are an essential part of education. The kids these days only know XBOX. No one plays an instrument or knows dance, or even appreciates artwork skills. Back when I was in school there was wood shop, art class, drama, music, and yes, we lack that now in the schools. Might as well lump sports
Race should not be a factor in the university admission process. American is so mish-moshed these days... and as a white I feel now like I am the minority so let's change that around first!
American schools should not offer bilingual classes for native Spanish-speakers. America speaks English. Teach them Engish.
The federal government should increase higher education subsidies for low-income students. Student Loans! Apply for them and use them and get that good education and then get a great job and pay them back!
Teachers should receive performance-based merit pay. From watching my 2 kids go through the Public School system I know as a fact that there are very bad and very good teachers and a lot in between. The good ones that go above and beyond definitely deserve the performance based merit pay! Go ahead and fire
School districts should not give parents a choice of schools. As a Parent I already have a choice of schools. I CHOSE to live in the district I am in for the schools! Duh! The boundaries are set in place to keep schools from over crowding. Of course the schools that don't have violence are going to be avoided by par
States should not be forced to fund the federally mandated No Child Left Behind Act. Governement should not be involved in the education process of our children. This is not a communist country.
Private schools should not receive public funding. They are Private for a reason.
The government should not issue vouchers for private school tuition. Private schools are Private! They are that way for reason.
Prayer should be permitted in public schools. If you are allowing Soda Machines why not prayer??
The No Child Left Behind Act has been effective. It was a superb idea. It just needs a bit of refining and it will be better!
Abstinence-only sex education should be taught in schools. Good Idea. Abstinence but with Balance. Don't let the kids think sex is "bad". It is the basis of our continuation as a human race.
