Universal preschool should be free in America. School should be available to citizens of all ages.
Education should have a higher priority in the federal budget than military spending. Most certainly. Our greatest triumphs as a nation were in areas of peace and prosperity, not war and security.
The government should offer cash incentives for better student performance. Another great incentive to work towards good schools.
Standardized tests are not an effective tool for measuring student learning. It depends upon the spectrum of area the test covers. For one teacher, sure, but for all teachers, you just don't know. They need to have a standardized CURRICULUM and test upon that.
Public school is the most effective method of education. In modern countries, a government run education system is crucial.
Schools should not punish students for not reciting the Pledge of Allegiance. You have the right to remain silent.
The No Child Left Behind Act has not been effective.
High school students should be required to pass an exit exam in order to earn a diploma.
School districts should not give parents a choice of schools. Totally unnecessary when you have a top notch education system.
Race should not be a factor in the university admission process.
Private schools should not receive public funding. Private schools are competing directly with public schools. Game on!
There should be a foreign language requirement in public schools. From early elementary school. Communication skills are important in our inter-connected world.
Arts programs are an essential part of education.
