Parents do not have an obligation to pay for their children's college. They should try to help if it is within their ability though.
The federal government should not guarantee sufficient financial aid for every college student.
Meditation should not be incorporated into education.
K through 12 education should not be separated by gender. This is craziness. We need to teach kids to be human beings. That means many things... including interacting with the opposite sex.
Higher education is a right. If you want to go to college and get an undergrad degree you should be able to, providing you graduated high school. Community college's and state schools should provide options for those who can't afford it.
A school should not have the right to require that a student take Ritalin or similar drugs. That's mess up dude!
Schools should not use plastic handcuffs to restrain students. I don't really see that as appropriate. Although I've heard and seen worse. A teacher I had in middle school used to lock kids in the closet. You'd be stuck in the closet until you spotted someone else doing something wrong and then you would trade pla
The public school systems in America would not be improved if they were federalized.
Public schools should not require students to wear uniforms.
Schools should not practice social promotion.
College entry exams should play a minor role in admissions decisions. It's insane how intelligent, highly active individuals are denied the best possible education based on an SAT, etc.
Teachers should receive performance-based merit pay. many other career paths are rewarded for high performance, why not teachers?
It is acceptable for courses on the Bible to be taught in public schools. Should be completely optional, elective
Public schools should make contraceptives available to students. should be apart of sex ed. not providing sexually active kids with contraceptives is irresponsible because their hormones will take over and they will do it anyway.
Sex education should begin during middle school (6th-8th grade).
Schools should not punish students for not reciting the Pledge of Allegiance. although, on the same note if they are being smart asses about it and distracting others from reciting it then they should be punished. simple rule: don't be a dick.
Race should not be a factor when assigning students to public schools.
I rate America's education system "Satisfactory." There's room for improvement but I wouldn't say it's absolutely horrible by any means. I mean some people are turning out alright. We aren't all complete idiots! (says the complete idiot)
The government should not offer cash incentives for better student performance. This is something that's actually being considered? Where? Why? I don't believe it
High school students should not be required to pass an exit exam in order to earn a diploma. You end up studying to pass the test rather than really learn the curriculum.
Education should not have a higher priority in the federal budget than military spending. when we start withdrawing troops i think education should definitely take precedence. but we must be careful about not being able to provide the necessary weapons/provisions/protection for our troops while they are still in danger.
School districts should give parents a choice of schools.
There should be a foreign language requirement in public schools.
Arts programs are an essential part of education. Unless of course you want to eventually live in a world where every band sounds like "Insane Clown Posse" and every movie is as funny as "Epic Movie".
Race should be a factor in the university admission process. Diversity on campus, diversity in the work place, diversity everywhere brings different points of view and it's important that the colleges and universities encourage this so that we can get the most out of our education.
Abstinence-only sex education should not be taught in schools. It's just not realistic to assume that every single student is going to refrain from having sex. I don't have a problem with teachers encouraging abstinence but be realistic and tell them all their options for safer sexual relations.
There is not political bias in academia. Unless you are going to some hippy school in the middle of nowhere Vermont/Maine it is ridiculous to think that academics carry a liberal political bias. There are just as many professors on the conservative side. What colleges do encourage people to do
Universal preschool should be free in America. But is it even possible financially?
Prayer should be permitted in public schools. just as long as no student is openly pressuring others to do the same.
Private school is the most effective method of education.
Standardized tests are not an effective tool for measuring student learning. In theory standardized tests should be a good tool. What ends up happening though is that teachers limit their lessons or curtail the education just so a student can pass "the test". This will make the student only good at answering certain kinds of que
Private schools should not receive public funding. why should they? then they would be just the same as a public school?
Parents do not have an obligation to pay for their children's college. They should try to help if it is within their ability though.
