Consumer electronic platforms for reading e-books and periodicals will replace print media. Not for a long while but yes eventually
Facebook should not use an open source model to develop their terms of service.
I rate the Amazon Kindle 2 as a portable reading device "Satisfactory."
The features were the deciding factor in my most recent purchase of a portable media player.
I would prefer a laptop with a touchscreen interface. Hell, I'd use it. I wouldn't pay a million dollars for it though.
Chrome is the best web browser. Chrome blazed into the "anyones game" browser wars and destroys the competition. The most adaptable, light weight, intuitive, developer friendly browser there is.
Web sites with user-generated editorial content should compensate contributors. That would be nice right? How about it WhereIStand? Lets make it happen
Digital technology has had a negative effect on the quality of filmmaking. People are too reliant it now. They forget to actually write good stories and get creative
The rise of portable media does not contribute to social isolation. Let's look at the iPod for example. While making commutes more enjoyable, the iPod can also serve as instant information. What's the name of that dude that was in the news this week? I dont know, let's look it up. We're standing on Rivington Street... how do we get to Ludlow? Look it up. This portable information is power and if anything encourages conversation and social interaction more than anything. If you think differently you are probably really old or a dirty hippie.
Social media will not replace traditional news sites as the primary source of news on the internet.
Websites should maintain legal rights over a member's content after the account is deleted. Common Sense. Just don't be an idiot on the internet unless you are absolutely convinced you want to be said idiot.
High-speed Internet access should be free. Would be nice right?
I will not upgrade to the iPhone 3G S. still can't justify getting the iPhone and paying nearly $100 more a month than I already do. and look at me, I love technology!
Wikipedia is more reliable than a traditional encyclopedia. While there are some inaccuracies, wikipedia is constantly evolving with an "Open-Source" type of philosophy and requiring sources to check out before posting...
Google is the best search engine.
whereIstand is not an effective forum for influencing people's opinions. It's good for discussion but I believe most adults have already made up their minds about everything and only life changing circumstance will make them change
I would read books on a portable electronic device. Yeah, why lug around a big book that can potentially take up a lot of space. Not to mention if someone bumps into you on the subway you lose your page. Pretty soon (as the technology gets better and better) portable electronic devices will be the only way to go.
I'm a PC. I have a problem with both Mac's and PC's for different reasons (especially as a software engineer). Personally, I can't justify Mac's generally high cost though
Super Nintendo was a better 16-bit video game console than Sega Genesis. Lets see... Graphics: SNES [256 Colors] > SEGA [64]. Sound/Music: SNES > SEGA (go onto youtube and compare any games sound, SEGA has awful music. think of a memorable song from Genesis that isn't Sonic related... you can't do it). Sales: SNES [49.1 mil world wide] > Genesis [29 million]. Games: SNES [Secret of Mana, FF3, Super Metroid, Zelda “Link to the Past”, Chrono Trigger, Illusion of Gaia, Mario Kart, Soul Blazer, Secret of Evermore, Super Mario World, Donkey Kong Country, Yoshi’s Island, Star Fox] > Sega [Sonic, Ballstar Heroes, NHL 94]. Multiplayer: SNES > SEGA (Sega's only multiplayer were sports games, nothing else). Time has spoken. The SNES is arguably the best console of all time.
A significant percentage of consumers will not replace all of their personal electronic devices with an iPhone. What's a significant percentage? Too many people are tied into their own plans and the iphone is still too expensive for your average person.
Member opinions are more interesting to read than public figure opinions on whereIstand.com.
Employers should not have the right to fire workers for content posted on social networking sites. No one should have to worry what they post on their social networking site unless it has to do with insider information on how the company is fairing in the market.
If a nuclear weapons program is discovered in Iran, I would not support a preemptive military strike. Ahhh jeez I dunno, can't we have someone else do it? Like M. Bison
Facebook's upgrade to a real-time home page is better than the previous design. Absolutely. You're all just whiners who will end up liking the new design more within two months. You won't even remember the old one.
Twitter should allow users to filter search results by a member's follower count. Twitter could do a lot more to enhance the user experience. Any added search functionality is always welcome... even if they do favor simplicity in their design and implementation
Technological advancements tend to improve human life.
The U.S. should not convert to the metric system.
The FCC should allow companies to provide free, ad-supported, national wireless Internet access.
The presidential debates will have a significant effect on voters' decisions in 2008.
Gmail is the best e-mail service provider. gmail by far. how is it possible that no other online email provider lets you thread your email conversations? prevents spam far better than the competition. not to mention they are always rolling out updates and improvements.
Nintendo Wii is the best seventh-generation video game console. Many people are simply just too hung up with the advanced graphics of the two other systems. Not only has Wii dominated the market during the whole life spans of the systems, but they found new innovative ways to revive classic gaming genres into some of
The Internet has had a positive impact on the film industry. The Internet helps build the buzz for movies coming out. Sure there's spoilers but if you are smart you can avoid them pretty easily for the most part.
Artificial Intelligence eventually will become a danger to humanity. Of course, why do you think there are so many movies written about the subject. psssh
There is no link between cell phone use and cancer. Who approved this? What a crock/urban myth.
Microsoft Windows is the best operating system for the average user. The average computer just wants to listen to some music, maybe write a document in Word and surf the internet. Linux is more for expert users as it is much more customizable. While some may argue Mac OS X is a better OS than Windows, fact is the ave
The educational system does not adequately prepare computer programmers. Most computer programmers I know agree that most of their experience in learning comes from on the job experience and practical use. The educational system focuses far to heavily on computer programming theory, terms and the like. They don't give enough
Cell phones should not be banned in public schools. Parents might need to get in contact with their kids during the day. Punish them if they use the phone during class but don't outlaw them completely.
News agencies should not limit the content bloggers can excerpt from their articles. With proper citing it shouldn't matter. Ridiculous!
Nintendo Wii should not be considered a form of exercise. Wii Fit could be a good supplement for exercise when compared to other video games... but it should definitely not be considered a replacement by any means.
Violent video games do not contribute to violent behavior. Bad, irresponsible parenting and environmental factors contribute to violent behavior. Like movies and anything else parents need to moderate their children and if they do allow them to play a violent game they need to talk to their kids about it. Video
