Advertisements can have artistic value.
The New Yorker cover featuring Barack and Michelle Obama is not effective satire. I absolutely love The New Yorker, even have a subscription; however, even though I understand what the cover was attempting to do, it is misleading and not helping eradicate the mistruths about Barack Obama.
Tim Russert's death did not merit the media coverage it received. Tim Russert's death was sad and shocking, but enough already. After all, he wasn’t any head of state. The media forfeited real news for this one story. And if that weren’t enough, they then compounded the narcissism with lengthy self-examination, asking
There should not be restrictions on advertisements for alcohol. The word "restrictrion" concerns me. Perhaps there should be a change with how the advertisements are created for alcohol consumption.
Journalists should reveal the identities of anonymous sources who have misled them. As long as it can be proven that the sources did actually mislead them.
Current restrictions limiting the concentration of media ownership are not reasonable; there should be greater restriction. When the media is owned by a corporate interest, the ability to sort fact from fiction has been compromised.
The Vanity Fair photos featuring Miley Cyrus were not appropriate. For the simple reason is that this child is being used as a shill in order to sell more magazines. Her handlers should have known it would create controversy and probably wanted it to. Again, she is a child being treated like property.
There should not be legal protection for celebrities who are frequent paparazzi targets. If the celebrities need protection, the expense should come out of their pocket, not the government's pocket.
