Greed is the worst of the seven deadly sins. I don't believe in the concept of sinning but I would have to say that Greed is the biggest drag on our society.
Roman Polanski should be extradited to the U.S. Why wasn't he a long time ago?
I enjoy cooking. Last night I cooked a steak with freshly chopped parsley, garlic and onions. I also steamed brussel sprouts and then doused them in olive oil afterwards. Delish. Once the summer heat breaks in the city I'm usually cooking most days of the week.
I do not buy lottery tickets.
I do not keep a personal journal.
I do not ride motorcycles.
The arrest of Henry Louis Gates, Jr. was not justified. Yelling is not a crime and by no means qualifies as disorderly conduct in Massachusetts. The officer knew by then the old man with the cane was in his own home too.
Racial discrimination is still a significant problem in America.
President Obama's statement about Henry Louis Gates, Jr.'s arrest was not appropriate. What a phony story. After looking at the facts and since I hold no political office, I'm proud to announce the police officer, who made a false arrest acted stupidly. Obama's original statement was accurate but politically stupid.
Same-sex marriage should be available for same-sex couples.
Monogamy is not natural. But we're possibly evolving into it since it's necessary for the stability of our society. I wonder how @MarkSanford would answer this question.
Parents should have the right to refuse medical care for their children due to religious beliefs. Tough call. In one sense when tragedy strikes, I'd like to think maybe it's an opportunity for these people to realize their religious beliefs are deranged. Most would still probably believe it was 'God's will' though if they lost a child in the name of upholding 'God's law.' But that's religion and people will always be superstitious. My problem is with government getting too involved with when and what medication children should be taking.
Same-sex marriage is a civil rights issue.
Marijuana is not a gateway drug. Preposterous to claim it is.
Economic downturns lead to increases in crime. Crime has increased during every recession since the late '50's.
Christianity is in decline. Well, I'm answering this based on recent stats within the U.S. The percentage of self-identified Christians has fallen 10 points in the past two decades. The number of Americans who claim no religious affiliation has nearly doubled since 1990, rising from 8 to 15 percent.
Mormons are not Christian. You can't just create another religion and say, "oh yea, we're Christians too." It's ridiculous.
Selecting in-vitro embryos based on preferred genetic traits is not immoral.
Gay marriage should be a federal issue. State laws limiting marriage rights to heterosexual couples violates equal protection.
There should be no legal drinking age. There would be much less irresponsible drinking.
The jury ruling that awarded a drunk man $2.3 million for being hit by a subway was not appropriate.
The Richland County Sheriff should not seek charges against Michael Phelps for allegedly smoking marijuana.
References to God or religion should be left out of U.S. Presidential Inaugurations. The most prominent Founding Fathers were pretty much anti-organized religion and they made it clear that their vision for America would only survive if there was a very strict and clear boundary between church and state. The father of the constitution, Ja
Casual sex is not immoral.
The demand side of the drug trade should have a higher priority in America's War on Drugs.
Undocumented immigrants should not be granted in-state tuition benefits.
The United States should not issue a formal apology for slavery. Well, many apologies could be justified, I guess (African Americans, American Indians, Japanese Americans, bi-racial Americans, homosexuals, etc) Ultimately, it's a silly idea and a waste of time that gives politicians a chance to hide behind some stupid
Polygamy should be legal. What she said: http://whereistand.com/tania0608/48760
The death penalty should not be available in cases of child rape. I don't believe it's a deterrent, especially not in this case, and I'm a progressive, so it would irk me to roll back our society almost 50 years when we used to kill people for crimes that did not include murder.
The Texas government should not have removed the children from their families at the polygamist ranch. It was very creepy and sort of scary for the government to barge in and just take 400 children from their families. Now, polygamy is creepy too and I am not condemning illegal activity that may have occurred on that ranch, but I think the government overr
The Pledge of Allegiance should not include the phrase "under God," because it was put in for explicitly religious purposes and as such should be removed. You can't fight fascism abroad when you support it at home. Now, I have no problem pledging my allegiance to the flag, but it's a little creepy to include "under God" because we're not a theocracy, it's goes against the Constitution and we're a country ma
Election day should be a national holiday. I love the idea of moving election day back to November 11th, Veterans Day, which is already a national holiday. What better way is there to celebrate our veterans than to ensure more people get out and vote.
Scientology is a religion. Wikipedia definition of religion: A religion is a set of beliefs and practices, often centered upon specific supernatural and moral claims about reality, the cosmos, and human nature. Sounds right.
Feminism is relevant.
The verdict in the Sean Bell case was not appropriate. Someone besides The New York Post please tell me why the cops deserved no punishment at all for their actions.
Death by lethal injection is not constitutional. It's another case of conservatives slowing down the progression of society.
Gay public figures do not have a responsibility to disclose their sexual orientation.
A world without religion would be better. There's too much to consider on this issue, so I'm open to hearing opposing arguments. I would say that the overall trend from centuries past is that violence is probably down. I would argue it has to do with a more progressive understanding of life. C'mo
Public displays of religious content should not be permitted; the government should refrain from endorsing any and all religions.
Catholic priests should be permitted to marry. It's one of the downfalls of the church. It's not doctrine, it's a ridiculous discipline they're trying to instill.
