You know what? I don't really care to send Bonds to jail. He's not a threat to society. He already is being sentenced to live his life in his own skin, and when he is rejected by the Hall of Fame voting body a few years hence, that will be punishment enough for me.
Keep in mind that what Bonds is trying to fight is a perjury rap. Did he lie when he told a grand jury he never knowingly took steroids, HGH, or anything of that ilk? That's the question.
It's pretty clear where I stand. What amazes me is how anyone could possibly believe him. What's fascinating is why he did it. Was he really consumed with jealousy as he saw a nation embrace Mark McGwire and Sammy Sosa in the summer of 1998, as has been speculated? How sad.
