BOB KLAPISCH Klapisch: Give Torre 2-year contract So here's a way to make everyone happy. Announce Torre is signing a two-year deal for the same $7 million salary he's currently pulling down -- no pay cut. But Torre would also announce this will be his last contract with the Yankees. That precludes the possibility of another humiliating vigil in October 2009 and spares the front office the embarrassment of any further win-or-else edicts from George Steinbrenner. By getting a final, two-year deal, Torre would enjoy what amounts to a multi-summer farewell tour, and he'd be rewarded for keeping alive the longest golden era in Yankee history. He'd also have the opportunity to close out the old Stadium after 2008 and have a chance to manage in the new ballpark when it opens in April 2009.
