Blogs have a positive effect on politics. Yes, there is plenty of speculation, conjecture, and outright lies; but blogs allow us to see what real people are really thinking.
The New Yorker cover featuring Barack and Michelle Obama is not effective satire. Regardless the artist's intentions, it was tasteless and offensive. The artist should have anticipated that the majority would not get whatever-was-supposed-to-be-the-point.
Television news should entertain as well as inform. Wake up. Television news has the same function as anything else on television: to sell you cheeseburgers. Television news is sleazy, purile and voyeuristic -- just the way you like it.
