I will absolutely punch SHop if I win as I fully expect him to punch me.  This has been set in stone for years.  It can not be changed.

Chris Camp for the win!

(Though he will be nice and NOT punch Sean as hard as he can)

Apparently, whereIstand has become "GeoffBook".

Now for the real wager / challenge: Geoff, you've got officially 1-year to get this debate into the public eye enough for some nationally known bloggers to take stands on it.

(Oh, and it doesn't count that you're on your way to becoming a public figure yourself.)

My money is on Hopkins.

one caveat worth mentioning. In his high school days, Camp was one of the most feared competitors in the area. I would know b/c he dominated me in pretty much every race we ran in together. From the 800m to cross-country he was strong.

So, he has talent. And if he can whip himself into proper shape and lose the weight, the '09 challenge becomes a whole new ball game.

There is no way in hell I'll allow Chris Camp to beat me.  We made this bet back in the fall of 2002 thinking that we would both go on to run post collegiately.  I continued running while Chris took a 3 or 4 year hiatus.  Although he has made a comeback, posting a debut marathon time of 3:02, he is not in the same league as me at this point.  I debuted last fall in the NYC marathon with a 2:53 and that was a huge disappointment.  I have since gone on to run a 1:13:10 half-marathon.  It doesn't take a genius to figure this one out.

This very well could shape up to be the race of the century.

well, this is probably relevant only about 10 whereIstand.com members or so but It's certainly reasonable for debate. One thing everyone should know about whereIstand is that as the community grows there will be smaller-scale issues that will essentially relate specifically to networks of users (think college and regional networks like they have on Facebook). As long as an issue is interesting and unbiased and reasonable for debate, it's fair game.

There's some background information to this issue, but I'll let the users Chris Camp and SHop fill you in as well.
