I tried to avoid more than two options for fear of missing one. One option is meant to be scientific, the other non scientific. Perhaps it should be "Scientific origin or intelligent origin"... but that sounds odd like an upside down bicycle.

Agreed. MisterE got all Intelligent Design on us. Let's tick with scientific theories on how the universe came to be. Help!

There should be options for scientific explanations if this is supposed to be a science question. At least the wording is "present universe", so that leaves room for concepts such as Multi-verse and Omni-verse, or Serial Universes. Some Cosmologists posit that intelligence is implicit in the present universe so that might be an angle.
previous version of issue
How was the present universe created?
Lots of people who don't believe in the Abrahamic God do believe in an "intelligent" origin.
Isn't this issue simply, do you believe in a God? Don't we cover that question pretty thoroughly. Don't get me wrong, this is a cool way to put it, though.

Great issue... I think keeping it in the general "Science" category definitely makes the most sense. I also agree on the "U"niverse suggestion.

I like the new options. Can't say I know enough about the positions to challenge them, but it seems good. 'Universe' needs to be capped, however
Whoa, like it! Do we have anything else like it on the site? Is there a better place to categorize this, or is directly under "Science" the best?
I know! Me too.

This might work better, though "Has always existed" kind of blows my mind!
How about this?

I love this issue, but I also agree with esperanto and Marina. The big bang is supported by some Judaic and Christian theologists -- as well, I'm sure, as other religions. There are also alternative scientific hypotheses as well as variations on Big Bang, such as Oscillating Universe Theory, which says there was no creation -- no beginning and no end. The party just goes on forever...

More honest answer choices would be: -God created it -Who knows? The real problem at this point is the "Big Bang" choice. It doesn't preclude intelligence. I also don't really see this as a scientific question, so I question the placement. This is about religion.
I think some people believe that Intelligent Creation might have included a Big Bang. A Big Intelligent Bang.
What about scientific theories other than the big bang, or that incorporate the big band, but can't be explained with just "the big bang." Can we at least have a button for other scientific explantion or something? What do you think?
