I agree. This should go under "Food and Nutrition" and we should create an "Organic Foods" topic.

Obviously most people do not find persuasive reasons because most people don't buy organic products. Remember, "persuasive" means it actually persuades you to act. Something can be "compelling" without ultimately being "persuasive." I think it's good. However, does it belong in Business? That I'm not sure of. We have a Food and Nutrition topic in Health.
I like the persuasive reason language. I feel like it gets at the heart of the issue.

"Necessary" isn't quite right. Can we say "Is it important...?" I think I could also go with "persuasive reasons" here to separate those who strongly believe in growing organically from those who don't think it's important or practical or whatever. (Obviously many people haven't been persuaded to do so.) It's not only a health thing, but many worry about the long term effects of chemical fertilizers and pesticides on the environment (water systems, etc).
What does it mean "is it necessary"? I don't understand the question. Is this saying that we must grow food organically? Because we don't necessarily grow organically now, and we're all still alive & kicking... I'm sooo confused.
Jacki says, "of course there are persuasive reasons," so the case is closed. "cell mutations!" Your scare tactics are unwarranted.
of course there are persuasive reasons. the question is whether organic food is a necessity or something that makes us all think we're not going to undergo cell mutations ...
Bodybuilding.com A site I like to go to once in a while.
Well, obviously the first one certainly is. Supermarkets make higher profits from "organic" produce and will promote them when they can. But are organic foods healthier? Organic foods are certainly not more nutritious [Newsome R. Organically grown foods: A scientific status summary by the Institute of Food Technologists' expert panel on food safety and nutrition. Food Technology 44(12):123-130, 1990.].
We should have an "organic food" sub-topic, although a lot of the issues might fall under "Health." "Necessary" has been taking a beating lately. Not sure that's the best way to go. I like "are there persuasive reasons to grow food organically?"
