Plus there is the issue that corn is one of the least energy-efficient sources of ethanol (sugarcane, for example, yields much more with less processing). Good issue. Great issue, actually. I'd like to see it go up.

One argument is that ethanol will only make up 4% of our motor-fuel supply, so it's not going to help weed us off of foreign oil or greenhouse emissions.  At the same time I just read that it's causing inflation through higher feed prices in the meat industry. 

Why are we pursuing  the ethanol route...I guess, is the issue.  Farmers lobby?
