I heartily object. They are two totally different questions, and there's no reason why we couldn't have both. Maybe we should move this to that topic, however.

Excellent point, viz. My old professors would be SO mad at me for not making it myself. Excellent, excellent issue. I think we should move on that.

You might as well ask "Is heterosexuality immutable?" May I suggest the more broadly worded "Is sexual orientation immutable?"
I'm guessing that "The question of whether homosexuals can change has come up several times" was intended to be a comment by Adam; I'm correcting that. I think it's an interesting issue, but it's not quite the same thing as something like, "Can people be ex-gay?" Because there's also a certain amount of fluidity to one's sexual orientation, some might say.
