I agree; as is, it doesn't really belong in this topic. Mideast Politics?
brian is turning me around. i think this issue has merit as is. i'm fine with it but it needs to be moved out of this topic.
I like the "Should." Some would argue that Iran keeps playing games with the U.N. about it's nuclear intentions and they obviously run Hezbollah. The president of Iran has said he wishes Israel were wiped off the map. A desperate cry for attention or not, Israel is seriously contemplating action. With Hezbollah capable of raining down rockets into their country, I'm not sure they'll be willing to wait for anyone else to make Iran comply with the U.N.
I don't even like the "will" question. First, I think things have already changed with the cease-fire and UN force. Second, I get really tired of the prediction questions. I would say yes, sometime in the future Israel will attack Iran, or not. I don't like the issue.
so bri, it seems with your persuasive viewpoint here below you might actually be in favor of a "will" question. can we revise this issue to: Will Israel use military force against Iran?
Did anyone think the Israeli's should attack Iraq's nuclear reactors in the 80's...no, but they did. Are you guys underestimating what length Israel would go to protect themselves? If Israel was prepared to go to great lengths to destroy Hezbollah so that their country was safer and they feel Iran is supplying them, then it's fair to ask whether they should use force against Iran. Everyone is worried about Iran's growing influence in the region, so eventually something is going to happen
i'm with whicker. if anyone actually thinks Israel "should" use force against Iran, is crazy. this might be better posed as a "will" question.
At this point, this is like asking back during the Vietnam war whether or not the US should attack the USSR. The obvious answer is NO. Pragmatically and in every other way it is stupid to intentionally escalate something into a effective world war.
Scrap this until it actually becomes an issue--may that never happen.
